It's not all doom & gloom in schools...

Thoughtful teacher arranges pleasant surprise

Well done that teacher & well done those police officers, definitely showing the positive roles that can be & are done every day.

Schools sigh with relief - Gove gone

However, Westminster must think we really are brainless...

"Two MPs return to government: Mark Harper who quit as immigration minister after admitting employing an illegal immigrant as a cleaner, becomes a work and pensions minister, and Nick Gibb - sacked in a 2012 reshuffle - returns to the education department."

The sheer gall...

Good grief...

Mind you... I almost laughed at this bit...

"I wanted one of my big hitters, one of my real stars, one of my great brains, someone who has done extraordinary things for education in this country, to do that job, to deliver the government's programme, to help secure the future for our country.

"I am pleased that he is doing that job. He will do it brilliantly."

...but it was too painful...

...so laugh at this bit instead :-)

"His first job would appear to be to help them win the election. His second to make sure Boris and his old sparring partner Theresa May aren't the next Tory leader."

...that's Millipede in then!

One very good positive score despite whatever arbitrary tests:

Barrowford school's KS2 'proud' letter to pupils goes viral

A letter sent to pupils at a Lancashire primary school along with their key stage two test results has gone viral on social media sites.

The letter to pupils at Barrowford Primary School in Nelson told them the tests do not always assess what makes them "special and unique". It has been posted on Facebook, Twitter and featured in national newspapers.

Head teacher Rachel Tomlinson said she had been "absolutely astounded" by the reaction in social media and elsewhere...

... The letter finishes by telling pupils to "enjoy your results" but to remember that "there are many ways of being smart"...

Sweden’s School Choice Disaster
Advocates for school choice might be shocked to see how badly the country’s experiment with vouchers failed.

Yes, there are the troglodytes who want Madrasas in the USA. Look how well that is doing in Palestine.

I am really not sure what your comment has to do with this article. Can you explain the connection?

Vouchers would be good to use for religious education.

Wonder what Nickerless has to say about this...

Student loan system reaches tipping point

"They've burdened young people with a debt they cannot afford, and now the taxpayer is liable for £330bn over the next 30 years. This is unsustainable and the cross-party BIS committee is right to call for an urgent review into the sustainability of the student loan system."

I pay for my wine. Why don't you people send me some food stamps so I swap them for "bum wine".

I see, so you are suggesting that only the rich elite should be able to send their children to college/university.

Is that correct?
