Bureaucratic B/S Teachers react A view from a teacher that I agree with: - "A licence to teach is unnecessary because teachers already have that licence. We have Qualified Teacher Status and to introduce further layers of bureaucracy, further accountability to our profession, which is already heavily held to account... is in my view completely unnecessary. It's a huge disappointment to hear the Labour Party continue to peddle what I consider to be a myth about teachers which is that teachers are "underperforming". " |

One problem with the licensing proposal...... ....Just who is going to do the assessments? Another business head complaining about schools Should he be blaming schools or the political correctness bullshyte that permeates the country? |

Politicians get re-educated at school...... ...note the school though..... ....Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Acting classes? They don't need any lessons - they're the biggest actors on the world stage! Acting lessons elocution lessons in reverse........ ......"The Mail on Sunday revealed in 2008 that Mr Osborne had received help from leading speech therapist Valerie Savage to make him sound less ‘posh’." |

elocution lessons in reverse........ His real name is Gideon Oliver Osborne, heir to the Osbourne baronetcy, i wish they'd be more honest and just admit to being posh. I had elocution lessons when i was younger to overcome both a soft r and a lisp (i must have sounded comical), it more or less put paid to my Lancashire accent too, though going to university was the final nail in that coffin. If i were running for parliament (don't worry, i have no intentions to), would i sound more credible before (with thtwange impediment) or after (clipped)? Confusion on school starting age. A subject close to my heart as I was born late in August and have first hand experience. 'Confusion' over summer-born school starting age |

Catch-22 for teachers? The final statement in that report says a lot. What chance teachers have against that? "Sir Michael was also asked how universities could improve the quality of teacher training when there was such uncertainty about the future of teacher training in higher education – when the government has been shifting the emphasis towards more schools-based training. If you're the thread's author all you have to do is make another post using the "post to thread" button (not the "reply" or "quote" buttons) and then you'll be able to go back and edit the title. But seeing as the title has been changed now either you have worked it out or you had a mod do it. Cheers. |

I dont what the UK expects kids to do after High school. But here in the states every kid is expected to graduate and then go to college. Id like to know where the idiot politician and or stupid educator got that idea from. Some kids wont get out of high school. And the kids who do most wont have the grades or the financial means to go to college. To me it makes more sense to make sure kids get a sound education in high scool and then let the kids and or parents if they want to go on to college. And lets stop the BS that every kid can go on to a higher education. It has never worked that way. And from what I read in my local paper some of those kids need to be in reform school and or jail. Should high earners receive free state school education? Yes. On the basis that everyone should. Rich or poor. Anything else is unfair, and there are already enough unfairities without adding any more. High-earners already pay more tax, and tax funds the education system, so in a sense they've already paid more for their child's education anyway. Next? Also on the basis that the state should not discriminate. Making people pay because they are rich while people who don't pay because they are poor is discrimination based on income. |

Also on the basis that the state should not discriminate. Making people pay because they are rich while people who don't pay because they are poor is discrimination based on income. Also on the basis that in some high earning families the person with the money could use that as leverage against dependents and deny them access to education. Education for all benefits all.
