Just tried to load it up again and it immediatley attempts to download seti_700.jpg and ap_601.jpg even though they are in the project folder. Of course the download fails and then it all goes wrong again. |

Just tried to load it up again and it immediatley attempts to download seti_700.jpg and ap_601.jpg even though they are in the project folder. Of course the download fails and then it all goes wrong again. Precisely what is the path to these files? BOINC WIKI |

C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu\seti_700.jpg C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu\ap_601.jpg It seems that becuase the JPGs haven't downloaded correctly it keeps trying to download them even though I have copied the files directly into the folder. Is there a flag somewhere that can be switched to say that the files have been downloaded and are ok? Maybe in one of the XML files? |

Check the size and MD5 checksum of the manually downloaded files. Then stop BOINC completely (not only the manager) and set the read-only flag for the picture files after copying them to the project folder. After restarting BOINC, do a project update. The file size shows as 0 after download. I tried to write protect the files as you suggested but it seems boinc over rides the setting and attempts to download the file anyway. |

The file size shows as 0 after download. That can't be the correct size. No wonder that BOINC doesn't accept the files and tries to redownload them. Somehow, you'll have to download the files completely before retrying to run BOINC. Did you download them to a new (empty) directory? Gruß, Gundolf |

If I copy the files into the directory from the zip archive they are 8k for ap_601.jpg and 9k for seti_700.jpg. It is only after boinc has attempted to downloda the files that they have a size of 0b. Even with the files set as read only boinc still downloads the files and the filesize returns to 0b. |

Did you exit BOINC completely before copying over the files and restarting BOINC? As has been said, you can exit BOINC Manager, but that does not automatically mean that the BOINC client stops as well. If you do not see the exit dialog as shown in the above FAQ, then do BOINC Manager->Advanced view->Tools->Options->General tab->check "Enable Manager exit dialog?"->click OK. Else always check in Windows Task Manager that the boinc.exe process has ceased, before trying to copy the files over. Also make sure that your Windows user account is allowed to write files to the C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu\ directory. Check the permissions on that directory. |

Fixed it! I went through the xml files looking for a flag to say whether the two JPGs have downloaded correctly or not. Inside client_state.xml there are two entries for seti_700,jpg and ap_601.jpg. <file> <name>ap_601.jpg</name> <nbytes>7653.000000</nbytes> <max_nbytes>0.000000</max_nbytes> <status>-200</status> <signature_required/> <file_signature> 73e7fb768eea38cfa9d00e8c292af619eb4a5f689872d6fd575b432d00e558d4 2582fd4d7128a45311ad9c655fb2cc3ad2f2d2316705d7bc16a38980fb01b195 8aca81d75316e8aa159d4c8c6071e8dedd9b57cd445846a025c08c4ce5aaba1a 3ef0e2c06ca240e54831d0b2238761e1b58f8056b4379f645404be0a36a7fcf0 . </file_signature> <download_url>http://boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/download_fanout/ap_601.jpg</download_url> </file> <file> <name>seti_700.jpg</name> <nbytes>9068.000000</nbytes> <max_nbytes>0.000000</max_nbytes> <status>-200</status> <executable/> <signature_required/> <file_signature> 694bd951d73186134cd6b45ed6d7c46d7d149938fad8ab107b7edd7b63436724 3cfd13b2ae95ff8c3ee1bacdc0824d1aeec0efefdbe522584dd0c11ec8c5a68f 670520514d33a5cf9a5bf0cb9bbc49b1f0c2a4ea60741bb5c6932585f4bca711 75321eda2b86020175a5571fc3f51f96f58af64cd234b2d64a5150594f368625 . </file_signature> <download_url>http://boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/download_fanout/seti_700.jpg</download_url> </file> Changing <status>-200</status> to <status>1</status> flipped the switch and stopped BOINC fom attempting to download the file. I then copied the zipped JPGs into the project folder, reloaded BOINC and everything work! |
