Message 1462968 - Posted: 11 Jan 2014, 9:14:58 UTC

OS: Windows Vista
BOINC: 7.2.33

Hi,

I'm having issues when downloading tasks. In the tasks tab of Boinc it show all tasks as Download Fail, but I can see them downloading in the Transfers Tab, and the event log shows the tasks as Finished Downloading;

I've tried to reset the project, even remove and reinstall it, but nothing seems to fix the issue.

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

Greg

Firstly you computers are hidden so it is not easy to see what is happening.

Second it is sometimes helpful to post the first 20 to 30 lines of the Boinc log on start-up.

Indeed, your first 45 downloaded tasks got a download error, but only because of missing .jpg files, which could have been caused by your ISP compressing picture files.

However, the last 40 ones seem to have been downloaded successfully. Perhaps the project reset did help. If not, set "Skip image file verification?" to "yes" in your computing preferences.

Are any SETI@home tasks downloaded successfully on your computer now? (Status "running", "waiting to run" or "ready to start")

Gruß,
Gundolf

Nope, they we all listed at Download Fail.

I have disabled image verification, removed and reset the project. I'll have to wait for the daily quota limit to reset before I know if it has worked.

Than you for your help. If it's still playing up I'll post again if and when the time comes.

The daily limit does not reset. It slowly increases as you return completed work.

Ah I see, is it account or machine specific?

It is machine specific.

If your other computer is on the same network, you can just copy the missing jpg files to the other computer.

Or try downloading this image and putting it into the directory.

It's still doing it, but I think I know why.

The seti_700.jpg linked on this thread still downloads incorrectly as my ISP meddles with JPEGs. Is there anyway it can be compressed into a .ZIP, along with ap_700.jpg?

Thanks

""set "Skip image file verification?" to "yes" in your computing preferences.""

Did that not help?

What do you think the relevant location is?

Do you stop the BOINC client (not only the manager) before copying the file?

So if you downloaded the jpg file under a file name ending in , say, gpj
would your ISP still muck with it or could you then rename it to
the proper name and put it in the proper directory and get S@H working?

Image location : C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu\

The manager and client are stopped, the option to close both was selected the first time the manage was closed.

Renaming the file might work, I've not tried it. It would work if seti_700.jpf & ap_700.jpg were in an archive, a .zip for example.

In the mean time, could you please be so kind and post the contents of your global_prefs.xml file and if it exists, the contents of the global_prefs_override.xml file? Either can be found in the BOINC data directory C:\ProgramData\BOINC
