Looks like Sri Lanka. India, and possibly east Africa may have another Tsumani on the way. Let's hope they get the word out this time for people near the coasts to make it to high ground or get further inland.

I've been hearing that the hardest hit areas are still inaccessible - This is only gonna make it worse... Let's see who needs what in the relief agencies.

I think now is a good time for a New Year's resolution: Help out those in need. Not just in emergency cases, like The Sudan, Sri Lanka, etc., but just people in general. I think I'll start by donating my 6360 (once I clean it and put a full system on it, of course)

WINS said +7K about three hours ago, rising sharply. Also it seems that Sri Lanka is calling for US aid, and India is moving six naval vessels there on missions of mercy.

Not that it's a big deal, but I had about 60 meal comps that were going to expire at the end of the year. I went down to the skid row area and passed them all out. It only took about 20 minutes of my time, but it really made their day for a lot of people. I made sure the elderly got first dibs. They were very greatful.

Bush Criticizes U.N. 'Stingy' Comment
I heard that the estimated relief costs are going to be $1,300,000,000 - It'll most likely be much higher. We (read: US) are pitching in some $50,000,000.
$50M÷$1300M = 3.8461%
<sarcasm>
The UN is wrong - we're so generous![/i]
</sarcasm>
It was deserved, but poorly delivered. The US has the worst track record when it comes to humanitarian relief - We block it (Oil for food) or shell out 0 troops (Rwanda) or shell out $0 (tsunami).

Well if only all those millions/billions scammed out of the oil for food program could be forcibily taken back and given for Tsunami relief.

I see the WooWoo Crew is hitting the Poli thread. We could start an ASS OF THE DAY thread but it would only have one post: His name along with the -1000 rating he would eventually give it. LOL!

California Governor seeks 'new era of reform'
SACRAMENTO – Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger last night outlined an ambitious agenda to overhaul California government and politics, saying he wants to put his plans before the voters in a special election early this summer. In his second State of the State address to the Democratic-controlled Legislature, the Republican governor outlined proposals to eliminate an $8 billion state budget deficit without raising taxes and fundamentally change the way public pensions are paid, school teachers are compensated and legislative districts are drawn...

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger delivered his second State of the State address before a joint session of the Legislature in Sacramento yesterday.

THE lawyer for a US soldier court martialed in the Abu Ghraib detainee abuse scandal said there was nothing wrong with piling up naked prisoners or leashing them.
"Cheerleaders all over America form pyramids," Guy Womack said in reference to charges that Specialist Charles Graner piled naked detainees on top of each other and photographed them. (Herald Sun- 12 Jan)
just following orders

I knew all along that it was just a big party going on in that Iraqi jailhouse. Recurrent reports of jailors freeing inmates from their cells to participate in S&M orgies and naked romping through the facility need to be addressed and these practices halted. Guards should have sex parties on their own time while off duty...cc

First the Twinkie defense, and now the pyramid defense.
But I just don't see a military jury buying into that one.
Besides, they need a good escape goat to draw attention
away from the CIA and MI officers who are the ones who
should be facing charges.
