I have noticed the log date and time format is different in the BOINC Manager compared to the actual log file (stdoutdae.txt). The BOINC Manager screen/log: The stdoutdae.txt log file: The date and time formats don't agree-- is that intentional? I've changed the language preferences in the BOINC Manager but that appears to only affect the Manager screen/log date/time format, not the log file format. Nothing I do changes the date or time format in the log file. I can change my OS timezone to UTC or something different and the time value itself does change, but the display format (date and 24-hour format) never changes in the log file. Just wondering if this is as-designed or something I have misconfigured... "History is a pack of lies about events that never happened told by people who weren't there." - Santayana |

Yes, it is intentional. The BOINC Manager screen uses the common style date and time while the log file uses the universally accepted ISO format. |

Set the language option of BOINC Manager to English (U.K.) and both the output to BM and the one in the log will be the same. |

I just tried switching the BM language option to English (U.K.) and the date format in BM changed from "month/day/year" to "day/month/year". However, the date format in the actual log file did not change, remaining "day-mon-year". I have never been able to alter the date format ("day-mon-year") or 24-hour time format used in the actual log file. Changing my operating system timezone does change the actual date/time value itself, but it does not alter the date/time format from this style in the log file: 30-Dec-2013 23:25:23 I confirmed this behavior in the latest BM version for both Windows 7 and Mac OS X... While the BM interface is user configurable the log file format is fixed. The former is for your convenience, the latter for use by the system, and so uses the international standard (ISO) format for date and time. While the BM interface is user configurable the log file format is fixed. The log file has to be readable by anyone that wants to try to help you, therefore it has to be in a non-confusing format. This means that you don't get to configure it. BOINC WIKI |
