The BOINC client with VirtualBox was created for users of Test4Theory@home, which needs a Virtual Machine to run CERN Scientific Linux executables on a Windows PC. I don't think it is much useful in SETI@home unless you build a Windows Virtual Machine and register it at SETI@home. Tullio |

Agree with Tulio, you don't need virtual box, so I'd install the version without it. First step should be to install the optimized apps. Then, edit the app_info.xml file with Notepad to change the count to .5 for 2 at a time, .33 for 3 at a time. The application details page says you once ran the optimized apps but are not running them now. Did you have a problem with them? Another method is to create and use an app_config.xml file and set the counts the same way. Another Fred Support SETI@home when you search the Web with GoodSearch or shop online with GoodShop. |

You don't have to use the virtual box to run seti f you happen to install that version of Boinc. Plus AFAIK, you cant run gpu work units in virtual box anyway since it uses a virtual graphics card. |

I am running the optimized version now. I tried running bionic without virtualbox installed but then bionic stopped running cpu work units. As soon as I reinstalled virtualbox, cpu work units started working again. I changed the app_info.xml file. Wherever I saw the amount for average use and max use I changed those to .33 and where I saw the numbers for cpu crunching,I kept those numbers at the default setting, but even after I changed the numbers, its still only processing 1 work unit at a time on the GPU. |

Virtual Box included in the BOINC client is not its latest version, since following releases would not work with the "vboxwrapper" sent by Test4Theory@home. So the developers asked dr.Anderson to include the 4.2.16 release of Virtual Box in the BOINC client. The latest version is now 4.3.6. Virtual Box releases are frequently updated. Tullio |

Thank you for the help. I'm doing cpu tasks now in an hour or less and basically doing gpu tasks in about 7 minutes now. Installing the optimized apps and setting them up correctly has made a pretty big difference. On the generic app I was doing cpu tasks in about 2.5 hours while the gpu tasks were around 10 to 12 minutes for 1......everything is a lot faster now:-) |

Everyone neglects to mention the config options for the Cuda x41zc app itself, I suggest you up the priority from the default 'Below Normal' to 'Normal' or 'Above Normal' by Editting the mbcuda.cfg file, You could also adjust the pfblockspersm and pfperiodsperlaunch entries to better utilise your GPU, Either search for Jason's suggestions, or wait for him to pop up.
