Tidings of joy!

Guy, something's wrong, try another driver for that 650 TI.

create an app_config.xml file in your C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu directory like this:

<app_config>
<app>
<name>setiathome_v7</name>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>0.5</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>0.5</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>

<app>
<name>setiathome_enhanced</name>
<max_concurrent>6</max_concurrent>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>0.5</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>0.5</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>

<app>
<name>astropulse_v6</name>
<max_concurrent>6</max_concurrent>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>.50</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>1.0</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>

</app_config>

Then you will not have use computing preferences. the app_config.xml file overrides the settings in app_info.xml so when you upgrade lunatic's apps you don't need to edit this stuff all over again, and it is smaller.

If Im reading this right, This will run 2 AP's on a GPU? Im only asking because Im not sure My GTX 550 Ti's are up to running two AP at once. My setting at the moment are for one MB and one AP to run on my Cards.

Please bear with me on some of my questions as Im am just learning the app_congig.xml tweaking.

Yes, if you put 1 for gpu_usage you will run one, .5 will run two, and .33 will run three and so on. If you put 1 for cpu_usage it will spar a cpu to run the astro gpu app. Just like someone is doing manually with his compute preferences, and then when astropulse is done his cpu cores he reserved sit idle...
Pay attention to the section names... edit any "bold" forum "/b" text if it appears.

I put my hand out and for the first time i didn't get hand full of crap:D

How do you specify if you only want astropulse on the gpu's? I could edit out the MB apps from the app_info.xml file. then i should only request astopulse for the gpu's...

Guy, the GTX650Ti does in fact support OpenCL 1.01 so your problem is very likely software related to that rig.

Cheers.

my guess it is a bonic issue, nothing wrong with the drivers. but don't worry as there are no opencl apps for nvidia cards i believe.

And how do you think that AP's are done on those cards?

Guy

Just a suggestion, have you tried Geforce Experience. It will analyze your system and download the most recent driver for your card. I used it on mine and I'm running 4 GTX 650 Ti Boost with the opencl. Hope it helps

Edit: Well, I rolled the Nvidia driver back from 331.84 to 331.65, then 331.58, then 327.23, then 320.49 and finally tried the latest Beta 331.93. There are no other earlier or later drivers to try from Nvidia.com.

None of them gave me OpenCL on my GTX 650ti.
(...)

If you go there: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us (Beta and Older Drivers) you will see down to 306.81 WHQL (recommended/certified driver search).

Like I said, my teammate use 314.22 WHQL (same OS, BOINC) and his GTX650Ti can OpenCL.

BTW.

Always if I go up or down with the NV drivers, I uninstall the driver first, before I install an other driver.

Additional I use CCleaner to delete old NV files (for complete uninstallation).

Im running 320.49 drivers with open CL 101 on both of my 550 Ti GPU's.
Here is the file that Richard Haselgrove kindly made for me to use.
It does two MB at a time. And one AP and one MB, He wasnt sure if a 550 Ti could handle two AP's at once. And I wasnt about to see if I could.
So here is his code.

<app_config>
<app>
<name>astropulse_v6</name>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>.51</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>.67</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>
<app>
<name>setiathome_v7</name>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>.49</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>.04</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>
</app_config>

if I set my 650ti to do two MBs at a time, it'll do twice the work at half the speed, so I would imagine the same would apply with APs also. GPU-Z says the difference is 96% GPU load with one MB and 99% GPU load with two MBs. So, not much difference really.

Dont count on those 4%.
When a 450 non ti benefits running 2 instances a 650ti would probably benefit running 3.
You need to run it for a couple weeks to see the difference.
My friend got 7K RAC on his slower dual core with a 450.

Just try it.

Just an info. On the 660/670, 2WU is better than 3, i belive in the 650Ti must be the same. Of course YMMV.

I have run 2 at a time on my 650Ti with no problems.
