SETIspirit v2.0.0 is released

After several weeks of hard work I'm happy to publish SETIspirit v2.0.0 with two new major features: Workunit Analysis Results can now be stored and displayed in the analysis results window and the new Workunit Analysis Monitor simultaneously shows the current analysis results for slot 0 - 9.

There are more improvements also for Non- SETI@home Projects.

My special thanks for the continued quality control and the active support of the further development of the SETIspirit application applies to Cameron Smith. Thank you very much, Cameron!

Enhanced Support for non SETI@home projects

· added a "Non- SETI@home workunits completed" counter

· the total workunits completed and total workunits completed today counter now counts all completed workunits regardless of their project


SETIspirit GUI

· "SETI@home Project Status" frame renamed to "Project Status"

· "Credits & Server Status" renamed to "SETI@home Credits & Server Status"

· new program menue with keyboard shortcuts

· new tooltip help mode


Workunit Project Statistics

· the workunit statistics are now displayed in a separate window

· the selected project statistic is displayed in the window title


Workunit Analysis Monitor

· the current analysis results for slot 0 - 9 can be simultaneously shown in the analysis monitor window

· the last signals found can be displayed flashing in the analysis monitor window


Workunit Analysis Results

· the workunit analysis results can be stored and displayed in the analysis results window

· integrated analysis results statistic: total signals found, counter- and peak power high scores

· all analytical details of a workunit can be displayed in the result viewer window

· the total number of recorded analysis results is displayed in the SETIspirit MainForm


Project Explorer

· new project explorer design

· the project exporer entries can be sorted by clicking the column


More Enhancements

· frameless dialogs are now movable (FlyDials)

· window positions will now be saved and restored automatically

· improved detection of BOINC installations on 64-bit systems (x64)

· ready for Microsoft Windows 8.0 and 8.1 (x86 & x64)

· tested with BOINC Client Version 7.2.33

· SETIspirit autostart option fixed

· editing mode of the project- and workunit explorer tables disabled

Windows 8.1 is complaining about the Sky Map Extension Pack and refuses to run the installation of the extension pack.

Download size is 30,347 KB (30.347 MB) as compared to your listing of 29.6 MB for the file. File sizes do not agree.

29.6 equals 30310.4kb, so that file should be fine.

Windows 8.x certainly does have plenty of compatibility problems where as Windows 7 doesn't.

Sky Map Extension Pack compatibility with Windows 8.x

Hi,

first of all thanks for your feedback. The Sky Map Extension Pack is fully compatible with Windows 8, it includes sky map images (*.jgp/*.gif), text files (*.txt) and a single audio file (skymapsound.mp3) only (448 files in 3 folders).

The download and installation of the Sky Map Extension Pack on all my Windows 8.x hosts was passed successfully.

This problem might be caused by the browser, browser plugin or antivirus software installed on your system.

If you are using the Internet Explorer browser with enabled SmartScreen Filter a warning appears after the Sky Map Extension Pack is downloaded ("SkyMapExtPack.exe is not commonly downloaded and could damage your computer"). You can safely ignore this message and select action (instead of delete or show downloads) then click more options (instead of delete program or don't execute program) and at last selecting still run program for a successfull download and installation of the Sky Map Extension Pack on Windows 8 hosts (the messages can vary as I have translated it from German).

I recommend to use Firefox or other browsers for downloading the Sky Map Extension Pack as the Internet Explorer SmartScreen Filter can be very confusing.

Alternatively, you can download the Sky Map Extension Pack as a zip file here...

and extract the files in the SETIspirit program folder (on Windows 8.1 x64 Hosts: "C:\Program Files (x86)\SETIspirit").

Please reply with a short feedback here, if these hints have solved the reported problem.

The switch to a larger font requires a full rebuild of the GUI, but I will consider how to improve the representation in later releases.
