We bought an electric guitar for my son a few years back and after a few years of lessons, well, let's just say that the guitar got lonely.
So, I've borrowed it from him thinking I'll try my hand at it.

Does anyone have a good site to begin the basics on?
I have absolutely no known musical abilities, so it has to be pretty simple stuff.

You always got to start with lesson 1:))

http://guitar.about.com/library/weekly/aa071200e.htm

Here you have a free online guitar class (for Gibson AND Fender guitars)

http://www2.gibson.com/Lessons/Skills-House.aspx/?s_kwcid=SiteTargeting|9594490804

If you start singing songs with it, I would really recommend this site, it's my favorite! There you find pretty decent chords from over 800.000 songs.

Once you start controlling the music that comes out of your guitar, it's just wonderful! Time does fly a bit while playing though...

Thank you Julie
I'll give these a try. If this helps me, I'll send you some backstage passes to the world tour. :)

hi Robert,

How is your son doing with his new electric guitar?
I hope he is doing ok.

Best Wishes from,

Nice guitar Chris:) Mine is a Squier from Mexico. Don't play it that much though, I like my bass and acoustic guitar better.

Here is my Fender Strat serial number E736805 made in Japan 1984-1987. Some say the Japanese models have a better tone the the US made ones.

Do they call the Japanese ones Fender Karaoke?

Hint: Karaoke is jokingly known to mean "tone deaf", though that is not strictly true.

I hear that once a joke goes over your head, when it finally comes back and smacks you in the back of the head it can cause whiplash.

RockSmith2014

PC should be Way High End. Turn Off all other running processes. Change RS14 Default Gain to closer to Zero. Full Volume on Guitar, 1/4 or so on tone. Trim fingernails. Stretch and Warm-up fingers. Play

I wish I could play guitar... However; I'm a lefty like Paul McCartney, and I don't have the spare money for the guitar, let alone the extra money to have it restrung as a lefty... :-(
