The new year starts with no GPU WU... back to crunch E@H GPU WU for a while...

Someone needs to kick the servers!

At this point, I think someone needs to kick the people who serve the servers! ;-) But they're probably out partying (if science geeks do that on New Year's Eve)! They've still got more than 4 hours to go until midnight.

FYI, I sent an E-Mail to David, Eric, Matt & Jeff.
Maybe they could do it remote-controlled.

Give me a break. We Setizens are allowed to come and go. Muck up, but the Admins are not allowed a break.

Happy New Year, Eric, Matt, Jeff, David.

I hope the guys are not even worried about kicking the tires. They can kick them Thorsday after they get a holiday off.

I got response from Matt.
He looked and he know what's broken.
No success with remote.
It may recover on its own - it happened before.
After holiday he will come to the lab.

Jeez you have clearly not held a proper job in a long while, the work ethic is now "24/7 can do".

And we can see that some have no consideration for others which is very sad especially at this time of year. :-(

Cheers.

Setiathome isn't mission critical, there is no need for someone to be on 24/7 call, the whole point of Boinc is that you can cache work, and if your favourite project is down there are scores of other projects with work, It does say on Setiathome's front page:

Keep your computer busy when SETI@home has no work - participate in other BOINC-based projects.

We won't be invited to Sweden for the Nobel Prize ceremony ether.

Well now they've done it; my computer is now frozen in and all of the ice breakers are stuck in the ice at the South Pole.

I say let those idiots freeze... at least charge them for the rescue...

A bit harsh. They're hardly idiots, it is a scientific expedition after all, in a suitably-rigged ship. It's just that conditions changed, penning them in the ice pack -- having spent a winter in Antarctica I know how quickly weather conditions can change down there. They aren't in any immediate danger, though it appears they will now fly out the "passengers" on a Chinese helicopter.

It's for times like these it would be nice if we could carry a cache that's larger than a few hours.

*sighs*

Well, it's clearly obvious that the holiday season is over for at least some people...
So much for "...tis the season to be jolly," or such ideas as, goodwill to all men.
