It sure would be nice if someone would tell us what's really going on, though.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how likely is that to happen? (Or should the scale include negative numbers?) ;^)

Probably.

Matt is usually the most likely to post news of this type. Has he even been around lately?

I hope that yous have your backup projects ready to go (I do), as the ready to send buffer just hit the floor. ;-)

Cheers.

I have my suspicions that 12au13aa might be stuck, knocking two splitters out of (effective) commission. That won't kill work production completely, but if the remaining splitters hit a 'shorty' tape, we'll be bumping along the bottom for a while.

I was going to ask if there might be another stuck tape- plenty of work to be split, all the usual splitters are running, yet hardly any work is being produced- barely 15/s. Usually 22/s is the absolute minimum to stop the ready-to-send buffer from shrinking. 24-25/s to make it grow, unless there are shorties about. Then 30/s is the minimum.

And so it came to pass. Just got a mixed batch of tasks from 14mr13aa and 16mr13ae - every single one a shorty.

Edit - and 17au13ab is full of shorties too. Triple whammy.

I've dropped an email to the lab about the stuck tape. No way of knowing who (if anyone) will be around today, and whether they'll have any time to look at it.

Well as we know Eric is working on tight deadlines for the Android app and it appears as though Matt has been "on tour" this month, mention of San Diego to Vancouver on FB. With pics :-)

Well, if there are no work units available, it's a good time to do maintenance - lemonade, yes?

I don't really panic very much over the MB splitters, but right now I am, just a little bit. My GPU-only rig is at a mere 99 in progress. I happened to remote into it this morning (to check its settings for my current complaint thread at Einstein) and saw that for a few hours at least, it's been getting "no tasks available" without the usual "reached a limit" line, even when it reported a finished task.

I think I'll survive, though.

BTW, has anyone else noticed a large spike in their "validation inconclusive" numbers? I find that more concerning than the normal S@H work supply variances.

FYI, I sent E-Mail to David, Eric, Matt & Jeff - because of just very few new SETI tasks available for download.

I noticed an increase yesterday but didn't think much of it as today it's much fewer...

Just got a batch of gpu tasks to take me back to limit. Maybe there's a fix.

I just picked up a batch of 62 GPU tasks after having run dry for hours.

The 'stuck' tape has been removed from the Server Status Page, as I requested in my email a couple of hours ago - I don't know if the two events are correlated.

Ah - yes, they are:

I removed 12au13aa. Also, new tapes should be appearing soon.

Jeff

'New tapes' possibly refers to my comment about the current ones being exclusively VHAR 'shorties'. Quite possibly means more AP, too.
