Good morning all, Last week I updated my GPU from a GTX 580 to a GTX 780. Today I was looking at my work units and noticed that none on the ones for the GPU are being processed. I went back and looked at the EVENT LOG and this was what I foung: 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | | cc_config.xml not found - using defaults 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | | Starting BOINC client version 7.2.33 for windows_x86_64 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | | log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | | Libraries: libcurl/7.25.0 OpenSSL/1.0.1 zlib/1.2.6 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | | Data directory: G:\BOINC\DATA 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | | Running under account Mark 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | | No usable GPUs found 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | | app version refers to missing GPU type NVIDIA 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | SETI@home | Application uses missing NVIDIA GPU 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | | app version refers to missing GPU type NVIDIA 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | SETI@home | Application uses missing NVIDIA GPU 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | | app version refers to missing GPU type NVIDIA 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | SETI@home | Application uses missing NVIDIA GPU 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | | app version refers to missing GPU type NVIDIA 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | SETI@home | Application uses missing NVIDIA GPU 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | SETI@home | Missing coprocessor for task ap_28fe09aa_B2_P0_00378_20131201_26616.wu_0 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | SETI@home | Missing coprocessor for task ap_23no08ab_B4_P1_00374_20131201_04931.wu_0 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | SETI@home | Missing coprocessor for task 26mr08ad.30337.2526.16.12.22_1 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | SETI@home | Missing coprocessor for task 27jl08ab.13183.3344.14.12.99_1 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | SETI@home | Missing coprocessor for task 27mr08af.13219.3753.6.12.80_0 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | SETI@home | Missing coprocessor for task ap_28fe09aa_B2_P1_00165_20131201_13480.wu_0 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | SETI@home | Missing coprocessor for task 20no08aa.32373.6207.15.12.3_0 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | SETI@home | Missing coprocessor for task 27mr08af.13219.8252.6.12.33_1 12/8/2013 17:42:57 | SETI@home | Missing coprocessor for task 20no08aa.32373.9070.15.12.52_1 I am running: CPU: FX 8350 GPU: GtX 780 with version 33.82 driver Windows 7 64-bit BOINC version 7.2.33 Thank you for your help, |

Could be something totaly diferent but: Did your GPU apears when you run a program like GPU-Z? If no try to reinstall the nvidia driver from clean instalation, and don´t forget DL the driver direct from Nvidia site only. To Boinc use the GPU windows needs to see it first. |

GPU-Z does detect the GPU. And my PC does recognize the GPU. |

Wierd, i´m not a hardware expert but if was with me i try to reintall the driver from a totaly clean instalation, including the DL of the latest driver from Nvidia site, aparently something is missing that prevent Boinc to use your GPU since it even recognices the GPU itself. Don´t forget to compleately reset the host after the instalation. Maybe even reinstalling the Boinc itself after that, besides a possible very rare hardware failure on the GPU itself, my guess is something was missing or corrupted when you exchange the GPU´s. Or wait for some more advanced user give you a better tip. |

I had the exact same thing happen to me. I ended up re-installing Boinc, setting my computing preferences to always use the GPU and 100% of my cpu's. I then rebooted and saw my GPU's, I then set my preferences back to what I wanted. Oh, I also did all my Windows updates during that time. Val And after the spanking comes... Ni ! |

You may have to abort all your tasks, uninstall Boinc, blow away your Boinc directory in the c:\program data directory, then reinstall. You'll have to change your folder view to be able to see hidden files and folders to see the program data dir. Don't forget to copy down the correct config file to enable both GPU's to werk. Hopefully someone here can give you a better answer so you don't have to resort to that. Val And after the spanking comes... Ni ! |

I just uninstalled and reinstalled BOINC. That did not correct it. Funny how I updated the CPU on the same day and I had problems with that. |

Had to reinstall the GPU drivers. For some reason on the first install didn't take. The second install it did take. 12/10/2013 10:08:18 | | cc_config.xml not found - using defaults 12/10/2013 10:08:18 | | Starting BOINC client version 7.2.33 for windows_x86_64 12/10/2013 10:08:18 | | log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 12/10/2013 10:08:18 | | Libraries: libcurl/7.25.0 OpenSSL/1.0.1 zlib/1.2.6 12/10/2013 10:08:18 | | Data directory: G:\BOINC\DATA 12/10/2013 10:08:18 | | Running under account Mark 12/10/2013 10:08:18 | | CUDA: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 780 (driver version 331.82, CUDA version 6.0, compute capability 3.5, 3072MB, 2847MB available, 4758 GFLOPS peak) 12/10/2013 10:08:18 | | OpenCL: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 780 (driver version 331.82, device version OpenCL 1.1 CUDA, 3072MB, 2847MB available, 4758 GFLOPS peak) Thanks everyone for all your help. I knew it had to be something easy. I just need more coffee in the morning I guess. :) |
