Several years ago I built a PC with plans that never came to fruition. While I've never been interested in purchasing hardware primarily for crunching work units, the system has plenty of capacity for some GPUs. So, I'm considering buying some GPUs to make use of the excess capacity. The PC has several available PCIx16 & x8 slots and the power supply about 600 watts to spare. My objective would be the best card for the money in terms of energy efficiency. Any suggestions for GPU cards?

nVidia GTX 650 was pretty good. I think you can fit two with your psu.

I have been drooling at the 650 Ti cards at newegg. Depending on the brand Ive seen listed for around $139.00 US.

Like most builders here I cant afford the newest card. But you can allways buy a card thats been out a few years . I did that with my two I7 3770 builds. I bought two 550Ti cards.

Im betting in a few years the Titans will be had for a way cheaper price.

It's $100 more than the basic 650.
The 660 is about $50 more than a 650Ti Overclocked card.
A 660Ti is around $130 more than a 650Ti Overclocked card.

That's here Grant but I do know that the differences over there arn't anywhere near as bad as over there. ;-)

I'd give the 660Ti a miss myself for a plain 660 or go the next step up (but maybe my dual 660's make me a little bias) and the base 660's have a much wider memory bandwidth than most 650's (except for a 650Ti BOOST but these usually cost more than a regular 660).

A quick look in the UK suggests
GTX660 = 130quid
GTX670 = 300quid
GTX760 = 180quid

A glance at the Nvidia site suggests the '760 to be about 15% faster than the 660, and only a couple of percent slower than the 670. The step up from the 760 to the 670 is a huge jump in price for not much of a gain in performance... (In fact the 770 is about 60quid cheaper over here than the 670 and delivers about 5% more go than the 670 - I wander why UK suppliers have stopped marketing the 670)
