I have only one project; Seti@home and somehow four tasks, two running and two waiting. How did that happen? Windows 8 on HPtouchscreen but don't know if that has anything to do with it. As I recall I only wanted to download one task. I tried to search the forum but came up empty on this issue. |

SETI@Home will use, by default, both cores of your two core processor to run individual tasks. The two in waiting are ready to run when the others complete. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

If you want to download a minimal cache (since BOINC will allow you to download multiple tasks at once to stay in cache until they can be calculated), set the computing preferences "Maintain enough tasks to keep busy for at least X days" and "... and up to an additional Y days" to 0 (zero). If you truly want one task for your CPU only, check out the <fetch_minimal_work> flag in the <options> section of the client configuration (cc_config.xml) file. using this flag will require you to restart the client on a daily basis, as it'll only fetch one task, and then nothing anymore until the client is restarted. |
