Now now Es, behave yourself, you know better than that with me around! Why not just report the neighbours to the local RSPCA or whatever you have over there. I'd also write to the local paper about owners not being responsible for their animals, without naming names of course.

Now now Chris, you know better than that with me around! I would never try to make someone's life a misery by going behind their backs and getting petty officials involved unless I really had to. We haven't reached that stage of me being really passive aggressive yet. I'd rather have a polite face to face with the problem and deal with it that way.

I do not like 'toy dogs' at all. Nor pit bulls, the breed should be extinguished. Some say they are a problem written by their owners.
BS. They were bred and born to be angry attack dogs.
There have been more documented children killed by pit bulls than any other breed of dog ever. And the few who are not killers 'the few' do not let all the others off the hook. Kill the breed.

You are so, so wrong.

http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/virtual-pet-behaviorist/dog-behavior/truth-about-pit-bulls

To kill an animal because of its breed is ignorant. It's no different than saying
we should lock up all black people because of the crimes many of them are
known to have committed.

Educate yourself.

While you have every right to speak your mind, I have every right to tell you
that you are ignorant about pit bulls.

I partly agree Suzie.
On the other hand i dont see one reason why private people should have pit bulls at all.
The risk for other people is to high in my honest opinion.

The reason for private people to have pit bulls is because there are
so many in shelters waiting to be either adopted or euthanized.
Shelters require adopted animals to be neutered or spayed, so there
is no chance these pits would add to the population.

I do wish people would stop breeding them, as well as other breeds,
so that more people would adopt from shelters.

I strongly support laws and ordinances that require anyone who
wishes to breed dogs to pay for a license - one that costs more than
spaying/neutering - and anyone who breeds without a license should
get slapped with a hefty fine.

There are bad cat breeders as well.
Some who put money ahead of what they are breeding.
The Maine Coon, sadly is in such a state.

There are a few breeders that no longer take into account bloodlines and such.

They only want to make more kitties for more money.
And you can see who they are at the cat shows.
There are a few left that understand and prize what they are doing.
Not too many any more. Cats are a precious thing...folks.
I know and love the few of you that understand that.
This is not a casual affair, me and cats.
Although mine are barnyard kitties, with unknown bloodlines, I still cherish them. They have a heritage too.
Lori and myself have the luck of knowing a breeder that does love the cats for what they are, and takes care in the matter of knowing what she does for specific reasons.
Hence, her two beautiful guys are a couple of the most wonderful cats on the planet. It was planned that way.

3b For Pitbulls, shut the breeders down and put them out of business, and make it illegal to breed and own them.

It is already illegal to breed pit-bulls in the UK and has been since 1991

Pitbull ownership is leagl but subject to certain restrictions brought in under The Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.

They must be neutered.
They must be insured.
They must be muzzled and kept on a lead in public.
They must be microchipped.
They must be registered.

The Dangerous Dogs Act was introduced in the early 1990s so logically, as breeding Pit Bulls is not possible due to the requirement to neuter, the breed should die out in the UK in a generation.

And should it come up...........
No, I would NOT be offended if such restrictions were put upon kitty breeders.
I might welcome it.
It would clean up the bloodlines and make what a Maine Coon cat is, remain their majestic nature.
These are cats the have been domesticated from the Norwegian Forest cat.
Long ago.

For your edification............

It still goes on, the law as it stands is ineffective.

I am sorry to hear that, Chris.
I do understand that some defend those dogs.
I love cats.
And as such, I can and do defend their nature as well.
But, I am sure that you understand that I would not support releasing tigers into the suburbs....
Although the thought might just be a bit enticing...LOL.

Yes you are correct I totally with draw any comment I made to suggest there is a law that prevents pit bulls being bred in the UK

Stupid of me to think that

You might be sad to learn that Cock fighting still goes on as well.

Cockfighting

If I had my way they would all be dealt with by summary justice. I'm already a proud member of the Hunt Saboteurs association.

HMM. Cock fighting and Hunger Games?

And we are supposed to be a nation of animal lovers - I do despair at times, but I do what I can to help.

I do too, Chris.
I do what I am able to.
My problem is not being able to define what I can and cannot do.
This is a problem for me.

I sometimes think I choose my battles very poorly.

Being imperfect human beings, we all sometimes make poor choices.
Sometimes we choose poorly, but sometimes the battle chooses us, and our only choice is to fight or surrender.

Angela would really love that :-))

@Es - It is general advice from the police and the RSPCA not to approach owners of "annoying" animals face to face. It can turn into an altercation, and ultimately an assault in extreme cases. You would be surprised at the depth of effect a visit from a uniformed RSPCA inspector can have. And they take every call to them seriously.

The RSPCA don't have the right to enter your property without your permission, but they can arrive with police officers when they are faced with 'difficult' pet owners and ultimately, if they have reasonable belief that your pet is being neglected, they can apply for a Court warrant, with police support, to enter. That is the UK, I don't know about Canada.

Oh good grief, Chris. This is Canada. I'm literally the scariest person in this neighbourhood, apart from my son.

To be honest the whole problem has been dealt with because now the teenagers understand why I want them to keep the back gate closed.

Not always Donald. There are times for cease fires, negotiation, arbitration, and conciliation. It doesn't always have to result in muck and bullets. Mankind has got that wrong in two world wars and countless other skirmishes in history.

And yet Donald.................
I have bullets. And defend my right to use them.

But, I think I never shall do that.
The Lord has me on the honor system...LOL.

I do have a few principals.

Number one is..........cats rule.
Why, I cannot answer that one.

It is just a simple fact that has ruled my life for a very long time.
Some immutable thing that you either have to accept or deny.
I am a cat. It don't work any other way.
I know, accept, and live like a cat. I am a cat. And I am getting pretty tir
Get over it, please.

I am about done here defending my right to be a kitty.

My very right to exist here depends on it.

Ok...........I am not a cat anymore.

I simply am not a cat.
I am dead to you now then.
There was no kittyman, there never was.
You deal with that.\\\\\\\

I am so outta here.
