We saw several coyotes while were in NM last week. Also saw a very large herd of elk. Unfortunately, for the first, I was driving, and for the second, I did not have a long enough lens (500 mm not long enough to do much more than to be able to distinguish legs from the dots visible by mark 1 eyeball.

Less than 6 hours of this old year left.
Let us hope it brings our small furry friends a lot of joy

REminds me of the time back in the '90s, I was part of a group that met quarterly at The Spaceport Inn in Lompoc, just up the road from Vandenberg AFB. Often I would wake early, and find deer grazing on the grass outside my room.

Message 1459680 - Posted: 1 Jan 2014, 17:58:26 UTC

Last night in the pub as we awaited the arrival of the New Year, and drank to the memory of the old one I was attacked by the infinite mass of a tiny puppy...
This little thing had already chewed its owner's new jacket, tiddled on couple of laps, and undertaken various other "puppy duties" on other folks when it (she) arrived on my lap (presumably out of desperation on behalf of everyone else around...). My thoughts were along the lines, well at least I've not got my best clothes on... I gave her a gentle fussell, and gradually she fell asleep, only stirring when I tried to stand up at midnight - have you ever tried to stand up and not wake the sleeping puppy on your lap? Take it from me, it can't be done.
Eventually the hour came for us all to walk the couple of miles home. Tony (her "boss" picked her up and put her lead on - ping, she was wide awake, and trotted the whole way back to their boat - only to fall asleep as soon as she stepped on board.... Its a dog's life?!?!!!

You bring a tear to my eyes. For some reason
your story took me back all those years ago
when my children were small and it was just the
same with them as it was last night with your
little puppy. I can see their shining faces in
my minds eye, so sweet, so trusting, so beautiful....

I guess he/she likes cat food better than dog food.

Sue you put me to shame! Much as I love raccoons, I draw the line at letting them dine on my kitchen counter. I may be the CRL (Crazy Raccoon Lady), but I hereby dub you the Crazier Raccoon Lady.
