Message 1488921 - Posted: 14 Mar 2014, 18:55:50 UTC - in response to Message 1488794.

So, why would Mr. Zamora be of any interest to them? It appears to be a case of mistaken identity. The dealership told him the OFAC flag listed him as Colombian. He’s never even stepped foot in Columbia. When WFAA looked into OFAC’s listings, they saw a Jose Hernan Zamora listed and speculate he’s the real person of interest. As you’ll recall, Mr. Zamora’s middle name isn’t “Hernan,” it’s “Luis.”

Mr. Zamora, though easy-going and composed, is nervous about the situation he’s found himself in, telling the station, “It's scary and it worries me, because if I truly, truly need something, am I ever going to get help?" Hours of phone calls have not provided resolution, so he’s currently reaching out to his congressman, Representative Jeb Hensarling for help.

Yup, thought it'd be something like that...

As we all know Bill was just being mischievous, and of course HM Queen does not do what NZ tells her, she allows NZ to do what they want, within reason, via the Governor-General, who is her official local representative.

Wrong. You said it yourself: "The powers of the Queen and the Governor-General are limited by constitutional constraints". She does what she is told. BY LAW. And the G-G usually does it on her behalf.

Recent example here in Canuckistan: A few years back the PM prorogued Parliament to let some seedy little scandal involving government members blow over. (Without proroguing, shutting down requires agreement from all sitting parties.) The process is - the PM "requests" the G-G to prorogue, then the G-G declares Parliament shut down for x days. The G-G of the day objected to this on moral grounds (as did many Canadians) and sent off to Buckingham Palace for further instructions. She was still waiting for a reply when the PM (and his lawyers) pointed out that BY LAW the G-G's only options were prorogue or resign. (A replacement G-G is named by the PM in the event of resignation, and BY LAW must be accepted by the Crown.) Parliament was shut down, without any peep from old Liz. Or from any of her numerous kin that the UK so kindly keeps fed and watered on our behalf.

If you want any of the Commonwealth countries to drop the Queen in a hurry, just have her try to interfere in local affairs.

Old Liz is my Queen too Chris. By my allowance. BY LAW she has the options of following the Canadian Constitution in Canada affairs, or resigning. She gets to keep her UK gig if she resigns, I believe.

I wish she could give old Stevie boy the heave ho. It is not that easy.

And you may not believe this, but most of my friends and relatives consider me a "staunch monarchist". At least by Canadian standards.

Now this has to take the cake for ridiculous "fringe benefits".

Cops firing blanks in sex exemption debate

POLICE in Hawaii are facing the prospect of losing an exemption that allows them to have sex with prostitutes while on the job.

The state's Senate Judicial Committee chairman, Clayton Hee, has announced plans to get rid of the exemption in Hawaii's prostitution law that permits police to have sex, so long as it's part of an investigation.

His announcement at a committee hearing this week followed expressions of outrage after police had lobbied to keep the exemption for the so-called morals officers who are charged with the responsibility of investigating prostitution.

Cheers.

And to think that was the last piece of land the U.S. annexed back in 1959 so we could have a place to park some of our boats.

And there was me thinking, they got this place so they could have an unpolluted mountain top view of the night sky.

Second verse of the "Gendarmes Duet" Famie/Offenbach

"Sometimes our duty's extramural
Then little butterflies we chase
We like to gamble in things rural
Commune with nature face to face
Unto our beat then back returning
Refreshed by nature's holy charm
We run them in, we run them in
We run them in, we run them in
We show them we're the bold gendarmes
We run them in, we run them in
We run them in, we run them in
We show them we're the bold gendarmes."

This is nothing new

Look, lets all be be totally honest here. There was only one reason that the USA annexed Hawaii, and that was to stop all the typical Yank tourists from cluttering up the American mainland.

FAKE, that is Ireland. Give it a break aka_s.

Gilbert & Sullivan and Offenbach were great competitors in the world of comic operettas in the late 1800's

No 13 is the only one worth noting, however, they forgot one that should be in that list...

Try this 1 for silly,

http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2336625/senator-ban-violent-video-games-but-i-traffic-guns

A CALIFORNIA STATE SENATOR notorious for opposing violent video games has been arrested on corruption and gun trafficking charges.

Leland Yee, who represents the San Francisco area that is home to many of the world's largest video game firms, was arrested by FBI agents at his Sacramento office Wednesday morning in one of a series of raids on homes and businesses in the Bay Area.
