Message 1441903 - Posted: 13 Nov 2013, 10:49:53 UTC - in response to Message 1441898.

To Ariz and Karen, thank you both for popping in to say a few words. As I did for Sheila, I will print off this thread at a later date for the family to see.

Thank you also to everyone else that has expressed their thoughts here either directly or via others, It will be of great comfort to John's loved ones that he was so kindly thought of and remembered, by his extended Seti family.

Thanks to you, Chris, to be our relay around John's loved ones.
This is certainly very important in these hard times.

Thankyou, but I am just pleased to do what I can to help Thomas.

John's friend Keith/Gnu has asked me to post this for him, and I am happy to do so.

Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped away
into the next room.

I am I, and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
that we are still.

Call me by my old familiar name,
speak to me in the easy way
which you have always used to.
Put no difference in your tone,
wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was,
let it be spoken without effect,
without a trace of shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was;
there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval
somewhere very near,

just around the corner.

All is well.
Nothing is past; nothing is lost
One brief moment and all will be as it was before
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!

Message 1441942 - Posted: 13 Nov 2013, 14:09:40 UTC - in response to Message 1441754.

I have been asked by Dune Finkleberry (Alan our old goat) to pass on his thoughts.

"Words are inadequate to convey the deep sense of loss, not only to me, but all of us that knew him... Either actually knew him, or just knew the kind ol' John Clark. Him and his furballs. They too must be experiencing a sense of loss."

Thank you Chris. I'm finally back to say it myself. I know he's at peace with Sheila again.

I just wish I could've met the old "Curmudgeon" when Chris came to visit us.

My deepest sympathies to all his friends and family.

Hi Alan, really great to see you here. Yes, it would have been nice to have brought John with me to meet you in the USA, instead you had to put up with me :-) But I will of course pass your kind regards on to John's family.

This comes as a tremendous shock to us all.

Didn't know him well but I do recall reading (generally with a smile) many of his posts over the years.

We always say when someone passes that they will be missed. In this case, he honestly will be missed.

I don't have many friends on my list, but John is/was there, and one of the first.

I know when it's our turn to go, that if my wife goes first, that I'll soon join her, whatever may be after. I won't need any artificial hastening to do so; nature will do as nature does. Even an eternity of oblivion would be preferable to living knowing she is forever gone.

So it may be with me, as it was with my grandfather, as it may have been with John. Some losses are too much for any mortal mind to bear. And the most Curmudgeonly hearts on the outside so often prove the tenderest inside.

Eternal peace, Curmudgeon.

Ladies & Gents,

I have been informed this morning, that John's funeral will be held on Wednesday 27th November. As before, family flowers only are requested, and any donations can be made to the Dog's Trust or the RSPCA. I can give further details via PM to any that require it.

I have been asked by the family to say a few words on behalf of you all at the service, and I will be privileged to do so. They are aware of Eric's kind announcement on Seti's home page, and are very touched and grateful
