G-type main sequence stars like the Sun get hotter and more luminous through their main sequence, about 10% every billion years. The Sun has about five billion years left to go on it before it goes all red gianty. I think that the cause is the accumulation of fusing helium at their cores driving the temperature up. What seems more promising, however, is research into determining the orientation of its axis of rotation, over the eons. Bear in mind, that it doesn't have any moon of any appreciable mass to stabilize the axis. ID: 1443509 ·

Last modified: 18 Nov 2013, 23:09:25 UTC At 1:28 p.m. EST, NASA's Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN (MAVEN) spacecraft launched aboard a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, beginning a 10-month journey to Mars orbit. MAVEN will take critical measurements of the Martian upper atmosphere to help scientists understand climate change over the Red Planet's history. It's a shame we can't send a manned mission to Mars.
