In time gone by there were two rules that have vanished - less than one thousand posts, and less than two weeks. As Ian say's its got very silly recently with the current game into its third week and third thousand. It might be time to reinstate those guidelines. |

Caption contest.... HK Kai-Tak was rated as one of the more "challenging" airports for pilots of large jets. The approach was hairy to put it mildly, with the final turn being a sharp (very sharp) one between blocks of flats and a cliff face. I've visited HK once, and landed there twice, we made the turn fine, but were just too high, so landed a bit far down the strip, so had to abort after the wheels had slammed onto the runway. Second time around was a success. To see a 747 almost doing a wing-over at just a bit over stalling speed is certainly a sight I won't forget, then you see it again, and again.... (Carlos' recent caption game picture) While worrying that a dog was not a good model for testing a ramjet , it occurred to me that there is indeed a perfect creature for such testing. Would anyone like to suggest which? I will leave this a couple of days for any suggestions... |

Ha ha. Nope, neither whale or worm, although both do collect material in their open mouth to process it. I thought someone might suggest a pelican... The answer is, of course, a buzzard! |

Oh Ang, gray hair looks good on you! I just don't understand it, after that remark I expected some dire warnings concerning a rolling pin or some such.... |
