Gary asked that his thread be locked, so I just had Eric do it.

It is my honor to host Gary's thread until the happy day when he wants it back.

Discuss away, dear friends!

What happens if no one can guess what the mystery kitchen tool is?

As long as people keep guessing, it's fine.

Pull up guesses that came close or have informaton in them that helps.

If everybody gives up - and give it a few more days, ome poeple don't chekc that often - then either to a close guess or after consulting with the players try a different one.

I think we lost a player that was very good at it :(
[didn't like to win, but gave good hints, so other would get it]

I don't think we've had one that that was a complete dead end [but I've not been follwing closely, only drop in from time to time]

Monday's egg separator had us all guessing for a long time :-)

Oh, that's what it was? I've seen far simpler designs...

Angelas caption "Some boxer you turned out to be."

I think that is brilliant and so clever.

There is some controversy over the rules for Beets give a caption. I suggest therefore that in future we discount weekends in the calculations, and add that to the rules.

I don't think we should make the rules any more complicated or definitive. As John has mentioned, the purpose is to keep the game moving. Very early on the threads would stall once in a while as neither the winner nor the judge responded.

We have generally accepted any suggestion of either winner or judge regarding some extra time. The important thing is that one or other responds within 24 hours or warns up front that this will not be possible. (I for example once sent a pm to the judge saying "please don't consider my entry" when I found I would be away at the relevant time).

The things I do to entertain you people...

I had the new tool already on my web server, but the file name was what it actually is. To change it, I had to use Teamviewer to remote into my home computer. Here at work, I can only use Teamviewer's web version (can't install software on the school computers). But the netbook with Filezilla on it refused the web connection. So I had to go to my main cruncher, then Teamviewer from there to the netbook, decide on a picture, change its name, then pull it up here on my local browser to remind myself what it looked like. And then I had to back out of all those steps again, in order.

Whew!

If I'd won Beets I would have posted this pic of Kira and Zoe, dogs of a friend:)
Zoe is on the right but you can't see him that well 'cause he's black. When we returned to the car and I saw them, the first thing that popped to mind was 'wer we goin' Harry?' LOL!! I HAD to take a pic of it:))

You should have saved it until you do win.
