Today, I feel like a fool because I am trying to set the world to rights against all odds. Some people might balk at the task. Me, I see three goodbye on the first page and I think, No. Not on MY shift. I will not allow this to happen. Therefore I am a fool. I still believe. I believe I can change things. I belive I CAN make a difference. I believe I can talk to even the most stubborn person on the planet and make him reconsider. I have to try. Call me delusional. Call me a fool. But I wouldn't be myself if I would not try to reach out. i HAVE to reach out. I have to use all means available to me even if that means stepping on half a dozen toes. Even if it costs me, I have to try. Yes, I am a fool. Still I have go to try and reach out to people who are so disgusted at the state of the boards and at the seeming complacency of the mods that they leave. Some have left openly and I wouldn't be me if I wouldn't try to coax them back - at least those who are and will always be friends. Some may have left silently or may be considering to leave. No. Not if I can help it. If this forum has become a place where people don't wish to visit anymore because of a very few others, then something is severely wrong. And I intend to do all I can to correct that. Yes, I am a fool. Only fools try things where a rational person doesn't bother. As long as I breathe, there is a chance. It may be slim but it's there. You will not know until you have tried. I am a fool and I will go down fighting for the world to be a better place. Now that was my two cents. Those of you who have been here longer and know that I am more than I seem - you haven't seen my rolling pin, now have you? I appear to have need of it. Dire need. Better order a few replacement ones. Now, if you feel foolish too, be my guest. If you think you need to answer to what I wrote - go ahead, I'll try to monitor without breaking rules. If you are one of those people that perpetually feel the need to go utterly offtopic in the nearest thread, I'm having none of those - anybody else who wants to cheer me up by being foolishly offtopic, you're welcome. Yes, that IS a completely arbritary and unfair distinction between two kinds of off topic. A person who won't read has no advantage over one who can't read. (Mark Twain) |

Hey, to make up for losses, I'm back after being away for some years. The reason is I buildt a new computer, this one surpassed the old ones result done in some 1400 hours in 3 days. Boinc and SETI@HOME is running 24/7 for the last 26 days, it raised my works done from 14.500 to 186.223 during that time, cheer up. Boinc wasn't anything for my very old AMD from 2001, this machine is running a i7 3770K and a Nvidia GTX 760, just using some 110watts while working on a 50% basis. |

Friend William: If that makes you a fool, then I are one, too. And we seem to be in good company. To help others, to make the world a better place than you found it, is a noble calling. It requires more effort, and character, than many are willing to put forth. Sometimes the only reward for such effort is the knowledge that you tried, you did what you could, when others would not. But for some, that is all you need. What was it Theodore Roosevelt said about the man in the arena... Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |
