Hi all, I am an old-timer when it comes to Seti@home. I started back in August 1999, then took a break when BOINC took over (I didnt like the conversion). Anyway, I have restarted my crunching and would like some assistance in setting up a siggy. I have followed the easy directions about changing the link to include your User ID, but when I do that, it puts someone elses data there. Any suggestions? I was trying to use http://www.boincstats.com/signature/user_22246.gif but no matter what link I try with ID 22246, it uses the wrong persons data. |

BOINC Stats does not use your SETI@home user ID. You must find your user id on BOINC stats and use that instead. |

3 problems: 1) Link is like this: http://boincstats.com/signature/-1/user/56976/sig.png http://boincstats.com/signature/-1/user/56976/sig.png 2) You can't use the User ID here for boincstats signature (my User ID here is 8647488 and you can see the number 56976 in above links) 3) Your Computer 7118018: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=7118018 ... do not show in boincstats (I don't know why): http://boincstats.com/en/stats/-1/host/detail/4ed7a4cee0aae659ed7bed826de55451 E.g. my info is visible: http://boincstats.com/en/stats/-1/host/detail/e4f2c0157d0dcfc13088cb0b7658ceb4 And at the bottom of these pages you see the 'URL for user signature graphic': http://boincstats.com/en/stats/-1/user/detail/7857e9fc356c31d5b09ecae27eb45005/overview http://boincstats.com/en/stats/0/user/detail/8647488 http://boincstats.com/signature/0/user/56976/project/sig.png http://boincstats.com/signature/0/user/56976/project/sig.png This have to be your page but shows 'Steve': http://boincstats.com/en/stats/0/user/detail/22246 http://boincstats.com/signature/0/user/1495604/project/sig.png http://boincstats.com/signature/0/user/1495604/project/sig.png  - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :)  |

Thanks! Your current sig is showing a user named Steve - not sure if that is correct or not. If you're having trouble locating your BOINCStats user id, go to Your account here on SETI, then under Computing and Credit, under Cross-project Statistics, you should have a listing for BOINCstats - click that link. You should be brought directly to your user page on BOINCstats.com and your user ID should be somewhere near the top of the page (it was the second line on my browser). Use that ID in your sig link and it should be correct. |

I just changed it to Braingasim from Steve because there are so many Steve's and doing a search for it kinda sucks. Maybe it will take a day to refresh. I also fixed the sig link. I dont know why my PC doesnt show up also. Strange.. |

I just changed it to Braingasim from Steve because there are so many Steve's and doing a search for it kinda sucks. Maybe it will take a day to refresh. Ah ok. Yes, in that case it will take up until the next data export before it will show correctly in the sig (usually 24 hours or so). I dont know why my PC doesnt show up also. Strange.. What do you mean? Where are you expecting to see your PC show up? |

I don't know why my PC doesn't show up also. Strange.. Did you change also the email? I think this is your Computer: http://boincstats.com/en/stats/-1/host/detail/113704645 BOINC Cross Project IDentifier 29eca2a217816da341ce83e286042df7 Here shown (in http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=7118018): http://boincstats.com/en/stats/-1/host/detail/4ed7a4cee0aae659ed7bed826de55451 - change may be caused by change in the email  - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :)  |

Something: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Cross-project_identification ... caused new BOINC Cross Project IDentifier to be generated. Tomorrow probably will become in sync (links here to pages on stat-sites). Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |

We shall see! It's funny also, when I was doing SETI@HOME (pre-BOINC) I thought I was kicking butt with all the workunits done. Now I am nothing compared to some people that have been doing it for years. thx again for the help. |

Still waiting..... Whats even more wierd, is if I go to any of these links: http://stats.kwsn.net/user.php?proj=all&cpid=5cf4b99488ca1694a6fb00c637fc952b http://boinc.netsoft-online.com/e107_plugins/boinc/get_user.php?cpid=5cf4b99488ca1694a6fb00c637fc952b&html=1 http://www.allprojectstats.com/showuser.php?id=5cf4b99488ca1694a6fb00c637fc952b It shows the correct user name. |

It's entirely possible that BOINCstats hasn't done an update of SETI@home in over 24 hours. |

The first message in this thread was Posted: 28 Oct 2013, 14:36:57 UTC . The Still waiting... message was Posted: 29 Oct 2013, 13:49:42 UTC and inside the 24 hour waiting time. Even your message Posted: 29 Oct 2013, 14:05:00 UTC was inside the 24 hour waiting time. So when you now look at the signature image, it'll have the correct name on it, as it's well after 24 hours after the first post. :-) |

An obvious and good catch! |

but who knew what the 24hr start time was. Normally its 12 somewhere in the world. Prob Berkley? Its fixed now. |

Waiting 24 hours doesn't mean "until it hits 12 somewhere". It usually is quite literal. |

True. I meant that the 24 is normally a set time, not from when I last made a change right? Like I changed the avatar on my profile and that was updated right away, but again, that is not pushed to BOINC. |

The 24 hours is dependent on two things: 1) When the project performs it's stats export 2) When the stat site downloads the latest export from the project The reason why your avatar can change immediately is that it is either stored directly on SETI's servers or pointed to a URL, so the change can happen immediately. To cut down on slamming the server, stat sites are not allowed to do realtime scraping of stats data, which can consume a lot of bandwidth and processing power. Avatars do not have the same effect and are not dependent on an export file to update. None of this is "pushed" to BOINC, as BOINC is merely a framework for projects to use. Each project site is independent of each other, and each stat site is independent of BOINC. |
