I'm very skeptical about that whole Annunaki business. Read a lot about it a few months ago but just like Lynn says, I can't believe everything they say...
My sister in law is kinda obsessed with the whole thing.

I think the Annunaki theory and Nibiru for that matter lack a great deal of empirical evidence if there is any at all!

I understand why Mr Sitchel theory of interpretating the Sumerian tablets where so false. In my experience relative to discoveries, I like to keep myself open to new options. After all, If it weren't for Bruno (theorized other solar systems exist - they burned him alive for that theory according to NASA) and Spanish Christopher Columbus, we would all still live in the Dark Ages. I am a volunteer for Kepler project as well. I mapped out 10 exoplanets from my computer using archived Kepler data.

Fixed those links for ye Eric:) I read about the Kepler being down atm? We sure had some great achievements with it!

Message 1432683 - Posted: 24 Oct 2013, 18:00:12 UTC

I recently discovered an email in my inbox telling me that if I send money to a South African prince who was ousted from his palace so that he can retrieve his riches from his bank, that he will reward me for my assistance by giving me a 100% return on my investment.

I like to keep myself open to new options, and if his story is true, I will be rich like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett. After all, Bill Gates was practically burned alive by the DOJ for anti-trust (according to several news sources), so this must be the equivalent of trusting a West African prince with my money.

I'm not a prince, but I am South African, so you are welcome to send me your money, Ozzfan! I'll guarantee a 200% ROI, if you would like that. In fact, the more you send, the greater your return will be. ;)

Oh, and by the way, South Africa is located at the southern tip of Africa, and not in West Africa. (Those West Africans are the real scam kings!)

More likely, as suggested, a scam to sell books on the subject and convince TV producers to fund media events to promote more sales of books with outlandish theories that have no basis in fact.

That's a scam. Contact IC3.GOV. I understand being open and naive. There's a difference.

I didn't really receive an email... I was attempting to creatively point out that comparing a belief in fringe science as being equal to, or an par with the likes of Christopher Columbus is a bit of a stretch. A belief in fringe science for which there is little or no supporting evidence, or even plenty of evidence to the contrary, is not the same as treading new waters.

In my humble opinion, I see little difference in claiming to be open minded to fringe science and being open and naive in general. There's a reason why it's a fringe science not supported by the mainstream.

If aliens had visited this planet then they would still be interested in our developement.
To this end they would be monitoring us for radio signals transmissions. To this
end then at some stage we would be able to hear their ones of old. Personally,
I think we would have picked these up by now but since we haven't does suggest
to me that no aliens have ever visited Earth. With this in mind, Seti is
proving to be a valuable tool in establishing any past alien visitations upon
Earth.

Still you have to question how they got here, at these distances, you must be able to travel faster than the speed of light which is not possible. Still, alien civilizations could have or have had the evolved technology to do so. But then that would be in contradiction to every law we know in fyzix...

A very good point Julie!!!

If we have had ET visitors in the past, and I think that we have, then they would HAVE to have had FTL travel technology. The fyzix we know doesn't allow for that, but I think it does exist. The LHC is the only chance we have of finding that out.

Einstein was a brilliant mind given the knowledge in his time. If he was alive to day, I wonder what he would change about his theories ???

But isn't fyzix based on math? Math is the only language in which we understand the Universe and its laws. I don't think technology can top that, whatever planet you live on where technology could have evolved that much. We still have to follow the laws of the Universe.

I think here is where we are struggling a bit now with those laws. We think and
experiment in a three dimensional environment but there are most probably
other environments we have yet to discover where a different set of, "Laws of
the Universe" exist....namely the multi-dimensional universe. Here in this
environment is where our major scientific breakthroughs will be made. Here is
where I think we will find FTL probabilities a reality. We need to break in
to the extra dimensions and see what they offer us.

Other dimensions are a never proven 'fact' lol, something we're not able to handle yet IMO but surely there could be an alien civilization further evolved than us, imagine we find that out one day......

Is interstellar space travel possible?
Well, after reading Carl Sagan's "Cosmos", I believe it is possible.

Carl Sagan's "Cosmos":
"If we lived in an interstellar spacecraft that could accelerate at 1 g, we would find ourselves in a perfectly natural environment. In fact, the equivalence between gravitational forces and the forces we would feel in an accelerating spaceship is a major feature of Einstein’s later general theory of relativity. With a continuous 1 g acceleration, after one year in space we would be traveling very close to the speed of light [(0.01 km/sec2) x (3 x 107 sec) = 3 x 105 km/sec]."

But, where can you get the energy to push a spaceship at 1 g acceleration for one whole year? The answer is, nuclear energy, whether it is deuterium+tritium or uranium.
Human's modern science and technology started only about few hundreds years.
If there are alien species out there who are science and technologically thousands or even millions of years more advance than us, they might already have the technology to built rocket engines that powered by nuclear energy.

For a space ship that travel near light speed (80%-90% maybe), interstellar space travel from nearby star system takes about 10 to 50 years(planet time), but on space ship time it is only about a few months.

I would really admire a species that found out all about nuclear energy. Time dilation is relative...

Correction to the calculation above, should be
[(0.01 km/sec^2) x (3 x 10^7 sec) = 3 x 10^5 km/sec]

3 x 10^7 sec is 30,000,000 sec (1 year = 31,536,000 sec )
3 x 10^5 km/sec is 300,000 km/sec (light speed = 299,792 km/sec)
