So I have installed BOINC Manager and I see it has six options, one AstroPulse v6 and five options for SETI@home, I believe Im doing the last SETI@home v7 because that is the one highlighted... My main question is, what is the difference between AStroPulse v6 and SETI@home v7?? Also why are there five options for SETI@home and since the last SETI@home is highlighted when I go to the list are the other four SETI@home, I can use any of the five but what are the differences between the five SETI@homes??? However; please keep in mind my first question, whats the difference between AstroPulse v6 versus SETI@home v7? Thank you in advance |

Thank you in advance Briefly, "SETI@home searches for narrowband signals, as does a conventional AM or FM radio. Astropulse, on the other hand, listens for broader-band, short-time pulses." The Astropulse tasks are larger files and take longer to crunch. There's more info on the website's Astropulse FAQ and About Seti@Home webpages, including links to more info on the science. Not sure what you are looking at when you say you see six options. My guess is that you're looking at BOINC's task screen and see six tasks running, one per cpu core on your 1100T. The highlighted one is just the line you've selected with the mouse. Another Fred Support SETI@home when you search the Web with GoodSearch or shop online with GoodShop. |
