I think the current incarnation of the NTPCKR is more like NTPCKR-lite, when it does operate. There are a lot of interesting features mentioned in the FAQ, which I don't believe have ever been completed. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/ntpckr_faq.php http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/ntpckr.php |

Has there ever been an explanation of what the project needs to get the NTPCKR (fully) operational? I know the short answer is: time &/or money. But, is there a more detailed explanation? |

Has there ever been an explanation of what the project needs to get the NTPCKR (fully) operational? I know the short answer is: time &/or money. But, is there a more detailed explanation? Development. It's been indicated (by the SAH team of course) that it isn't ready for "prime time". I remember when it was public-facing it was indicating stupendous results of repeating gaussians all over the place, so the results aren't reliable. So it's been moved offline until the programming can be fixed (and possibly code added to filter out the known RFI sources.) They also directly confirmed that the hardware is now up to the job at the colo facility which is why the new NTPCKR server GPUUG fundraiser project was scrapped, with the funds to be moved to the upcoming SERENDIP receiver project. (Edit: You probably already know this but I post for those who may not.) :^) |
