Found the preference setting and updated. Most here are helpful. Some, like myself, think they are the Terminator at times. We all get over it....LOL. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

And for PK, now that it's running satisfactorily let it alone and see if there's any glitches. Say until after the next Tuesday's maintenance period. Then you might want to pursue some fine tuning. Patience is golden. One change at a time is recommended with adequate observation time to catch any problems. |

Yes, that is one of several nice things I've witnessed while I have been a member here. All the 'senior' crunchers are sincere in helping out with questions and issues. And, Bill, one thing my career in computer networking has taught is patience and only changing one thing at a time! I'm happy with how things are running now, 2 tasks each for both GPU and CPU. Thanks again, all! |

LOL...the bad thing is if you change more than one thing at a time, it's a big sabre. If it works, you'll never know why it did. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

If you run into any problems while running 2 AP's on that card at the same time then just change your app_config.xml to, <app_config> <app> <name>astropulse_v6</name> <gpu_versions> <gpu_usage>0.51</gpu_usage> <cpu_usage>0.04</cpu_usage> </gpu_versions> </app> <app> <name>setiathome_v7</name> <gpu_versions> <gpu_usage>0.49</gpu_usage> <cpu_usage>0.04</cpu_usage> </gpu_versions> </app> </app_config> This will allow you to run either 2x MB's or 1x AP and 1x MB. ;-) Cheers. |

I understand only changing one at a time, but keep Claggy's advice in mind for the near future: If you want to make sure that Cuda GPU app is fed well enough then adjust the priority settings in the mbcuda.cfg file, either to 'normal' or 'abovenormal' rather than the default 'below normal'Since you're running the stock apps and have all 3 flavors of v7 on hand, you'll have to do all 3 mbcuda files. Edit with notepad. I like Wiggo's advice in the preceding post. Another Fred Support SETI@home when you search the Web with GoodSearch or shop online with GoodShop. |

The Astropulse tasks will need more than .04 - the usual recommendation is to reserve a full core for each AP task. I sometimes experiment with lower values. Also, the .04 value for S@H v7 won't preclude crunching a cpu task, but reserving a full core for each AP task will. I use .1 for S@H but mileage varies, etc. NONONO! You MUST use 1 CPU/ GPU AP or you will overcommit your CPU: On my system (I7-3820, with 2 x GTX 680, so similar to OP) when an AP is running on GPU, it uses about 95% of elapsed time on CPU - and if you don't reserve a core for it, the CPU will thrash like crazy. (That is, it will use a LOT of CPU in Kernel time (not charged to apps) and stretch things out considerably). |
