I feel that my average credit is not as high as it should be. Can someone tell me how many credits should I be getting per day with my build: CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3930K CPU @ 4.20GHz [Family 6 Model 45 Stepping 6] (12 processors) GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN (4095MB) driver: 327.23 OpenCL: 1.01 Thanks! |

I feel that my average credit is not as high as it should be. Can someone tell me how many credits should I be getting per day with my build: Welcome to the forum! Seems a bit early to get too concerned - that computer was set up on Oct 1 and it takes longer for RAC to maximize. I do see a few things you might consider: Looks like you're running one at a time on the gpu - that card can handle more. If you are doing one at a time, there's two ways to set up multiple instances: 1) install the optimized apps and then edit app_info.xml to set the count value for more tasks. A count of .5 will get you 2 at a time, .33 for 3, .25 for 4, etc. Can also do that by creating an App_config.xml file in the project data direcory and setting the count the same way. Edit mbcuda.cfg in the project data directory to set the priority for v7 GPU tasks to above normal. You're running with the default of below normal. Consider experimenting with different values for the parameters, those are also at default values: pulsefind: blocks per SM 4 (Fermi or newer default) pulsefind: periods per launch 100 (default) I don't know what values might be best for that powerful card. Anyone? Also noticed the gpu tasks are using a lot of cpu time. Anyone have ideas on that? Another Fred Support SETI@home when you search the Web with GoodSearch or shop online with GoodShop. |

Thank you very much for the help! There are three different mbcuda.cfg files. Which one should I edit? mbcuda-7.00-cuda32.cfg mbcuda-7.00-cuda42.cfg mbcuda-7.00-cuda50.cfg Also, I've read somewhere that I might want to use all 12 threads of my CPU. Should I be running 11 threads and have one thread dedicated to GPU? Thanks! |

Thank you very much for the help! Realistically, you will want to install the optimized apps so you will only get the CUDA50 work as 42 and 32 are going to be a lot slower. |

There are three different mbcuda.cfg files. Which one should I edit?Could do all 3 but it looks like you are only getting cuda 50 tasks now so that one should be sufficient. If you install the optimized apps (see sticky thread for link) I think you'll only have one mbcuda file. By the way, I forgot to say edit those files with notepad - other editors may embed unwanted information. And you have to create app_config.xml yourself. The opt apps installer will create app_info.xml. Also, I've read somewhere that I might want to use all 12 threads of my CPU. Should I be running 11 threads and have one thread dedicated to GPU?The usual advice in this forum is to reserve at least one core for the gpu using BOINC's preferences menu, and one per Astropulse task on gpu using app_config.xml or app_info.xml. Your mileage may vary. Another Fred Support SETI@home when you search the Web with GoodSearch or shop online with GoodShop. |

Could you tell me where to find "sticky thread" for the optimized app. Is this the correct site link??: http://lunatics.kwsn.net/ Also, I've read somewhere that I might want to use all 12 threads of my CPU. Should I be running 11 threads and have one thread dedicated to GPU? I accessed BOINC's preference menu. But I don't know how to tweak. Is there a tutorial for this? This is my current settings: |

Could you tell me where to find "sticky thread" for the optimized app. That's the site, and they may still be using Arkayn's site (crunchers anonymous) which is at http://www.arkayn.us/forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=cat3. The sticky thread I referred to sorts to the top of the forum, it's the one entitled "Optimised Applications and Other Binaries, 2nd edition - Read Only". Those top threads are stickies to keep them at the top. You'll need to know the features of your cpu - look at BOINC's startup messages or use the CPUID utility. I accessed BOINC's preference menu. But I don't know how to tweak. Is there a tutorial for this? What you posted is the website set of computing preferences. You can use those, but any entry in BOINC's computing preferences invokes an override and the website preferences are not used. Your startup messages will tell you if the override is in effect. I get: SETI@home 10/17/2013 8:00:26 AM General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 28-Sep-2013 17:21:36) followed by: 10/17/2013 8:00:26 AM | | Reading preferences override file I recommend the local BOINC set for convenience. The menu path in your version of BOINC is Tools/Computing Preferences, first tab processor usage. Set a percent in the box entitled "on multiprocessor systems, use at most xx % of the processors." Use a decimal equivalent of 11/12 (I'm sleepy and can't figure)." :=) Don't know of a tutorial. Another Fred Support SETI@home when you search the Web with GoodSearch or shop online with GoodShop. |

Thank you very much! All working now. Have 3 tasks running on my Titan! Each allotting 0.33CPU :) A couple more questions: 1. I have 9800GX2(1GB RAM) on my other computer. But both cores are only running at 40%. I think it's due to its memory problem (memory load at 100% for both cores). Is there anyway around it? I would ideally like to reach 100% GPU core load. 2.Should HT be on or off? Thanks! |

I have 9800GX2(1GB RAM) It is really old by today's standards. I would replace it with something more modern. |
