Well, most of smoke has now drifted away.
The results are in, and have been verified.
The GPUUG has won by a nose. Some may say it was a snotty nose, but, a nose nonetheless.

What I wish to say is.......
This was MY auction. Initiated not by myself wishing to leave a team so much as just to wishing to hold another successful Seti fundraiser.
And that it certainly was.
If all accounts are clear, some $3,200 dollars were donated to Seti during it's run.
That makes the kitties smile very much.

I shall say this much. I have learned a bit, and should I decide to do this again when my servitude to the GPUUG is over in two years........

I shall have to post much more clear rules at the start of the auction.

You have to realize, I have done this several times over the last number of years, and these kinds of things just never came up before.
I don't think I EVER had the bidders fight with such spirit as this year.
And so, they took to 'tactics'. This dismayed some who used the more traditional methods, but geez. In the middle of the auction, it's rather hard to deploy new rules. Everybody was trying their best to win.

If the good Lord is willing and the creek don't rise too much, should I do this again.......

Rules will be more explicit.

NO conditional bids.
All bids will be as called, as is, at the time of bidding.
All bids will be paid and confirmed at the time of auction end.
No bids will be predicated on the time the bid was placed VS any other bids.
All bids must be paid and confirmed by 24 hours after the auction end, or they are void.
At that time, all bids shall be totaled, and the winner declared.

Does anybody have any other suggestions as to any other rules that should be declared up front?

I was really blindsided by this genuine enthusiasm for the auction this year.

I just want to make sure that, if I do it again, it runs a little more smoothly.

All for Seti.

I propose two additional rules Mark
1-The organizer of the auction (you) doesn't have the right to bid
2-An auctioneer shall be designated to oversee the auction proceedings (other than you) to maintain complete impartiality (note I'm not saying you're not impartial :))

No bids, just only paid and confirmed contributions.

I'm not sure that I agree that I should not be able to bid on my own behalf.
But, as I said during this auction, I should not be unwilling to have an 'observer' render any rulings that should be needed during the event.

However, if the rulings at the onset of the auction were made clear and fast enough, I doubt any outside ruling would need to be made.

As I stated, this was a most unusual and most exuberant response to the kitty auction in recent history.

It might take the kitties a couple of years to regain their strength enough to posture another one...LOL.

Best wishes and kitty kisses to all who participated.
