Hi, I would to know if exists any web calculator for knowing how many percentage of time of every WU you can win with another processor, changing actual processor to a new processor, or if there is any characteristic or your processor and your new processor can give you this percentage, perhaps teraflops of the processor? comparing teraflops or gigaflops of one processor and another processor can you know how many percentage can you win? Ok, that's without SSE instructions that can give to the new processor a better rate of processing. I refer to an app like 3DMarks or something elese. Thanks! BOINC 7.0.64 x86 |

that would be a futile effort. Since each person runs his or her PC with so many variables in computation that you'd need more information than what is currently given. In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

Ok, but what I refer is with the same moterboard/chipset, with the same RAM and other parts, if you are going to change ONLY the processor, and usig the SAME workunit (I supose with BOINC this is not possible, perhaps with old screensaver and a WU that you have in your hard disc), if you could process that wu with the old processor you will have a time of porcessing, but changing only the processor and reprocessing the same workunit, how many % of time you will earn. Ok, every processor is different, perhaps a Pentium 4 3GHz have SSE instructions, but don't have SSE3 or SSE$ instructions like a new quad core or i7, but with the same workunit, you are going to win perhaps a 50-60 % of time, that's what I refer. Is possible to use old screensaver to process two times (our of SETI net) a workunit you have saved to compare two processors? Thanks! BOINC 7.0.64 x86 |

You can do the same WU outside of BOINC using: 'Test and Benchmark Tools' http://lunatics.kwsn.net/index.php?module=Downloads;catd=5 Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |
