Every prediction published about global melting includes some form of climate disaster. The global climate can only get worse because of industrialization. Therefore we must conclude that in the pre-industrial world, roughly 1850, the Earth had the best of all possible climates.

London had a Frost Fair in 1814 began on 1 February, and lasted four days. An elephant was led across the river below Blackfriars Bridge, when the Thames froze over. The climate warmed a bit after that.

Even though the UK and France share the same global climate France has nicer weather on average.

At one time it was possible to walk on dry land from South Africa almost to Australia needing only a crude raft to get the rest of the way so Australia. Then came a huge climate disaster leaving people stranded on mountain tops in the Pacific.

That is a generalisation. Southern France tends to have nicer weather because it is closer to the equator.

The climate of Europe is of a temperate, continental nature, with a maritime climate prevailing on the western coasts and a Mediterranean climate in the south
