Shouldn't the following have been taken care of by resetting the project?

Unknown app name in app_info.xml.
Your app_info.xml file doesn't have a usabe version of SETI@Home v7.


Would detaching and then rejoining the project help?

No, resetting the project won't take care of that. You can either delete app_info.xml and then perform a project reset, or update your optimized applications to the latest releas.
