Been running SETI for over a decade. And now I run Einstein and Milkyway along with it. For a year or so they shared equal shares and ran fine. Hell, I didn't even pay much attention to things except to update when needed.

A few days ago I noticed SETI isn't doing anything. Has been long enough since it's grabbed work and processed it that my avg work done is down to .45. From over 2000. I even tried putting it's work share to near half when saw that mentioned in another thread. Updating just gets me a deferred message. Resetting accomplished nothing. This has been going on for over a month, judging by the stats page showing my avg work at 15 and dropping at the Aug 13 mark.
Like I said. I don't even look at more then the announcements. Just let BOINC plug away.

Was there some issue I missed over the summer that could be causing this?

Einstein and Milkyway are chugging fine.

Could be any number of reasons. Can you post the first 30 to 40 lines of your event log after restarting Boinc manager?

Was there some issue I missed over the summer that could be causing this?

The project changed its main applications, from Seti Enhanced v6 to v7, and if you haven't added work fetch for that in the project preferences, well, then it won't fetch work for the new version and only once in a blue moon get resends for v6. However, with only about 100 v6 tasks being available in the wild, and your BOINC being on a 24 hour back-off by now, the chances that you are getting work from that, are a million to one, (he said).

Make sure that your Seti work fetch preferences on the correct venue are set to:
SETI@home Enhanced: yes
SETI@home v7: yes
AstroPulse v6: yes

And that If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications? is set to Yes.

That'll probably fix your problems.

PS: If you use the Lunatics (third party, optimized) applications, you'll have to update those from the v0.41 installer. See the second post in this thread for links to that.

If you are running optimized apps please upgrade them as well.

Not using any utilities other then what is DL from the homepage of the various projects. At least I sure don't recall installing any third party utils.

I Made sure to set the options you mentioned. Some were still on no from before. No updated work sent yet. Still just getting communication deferred. Maybe it'll catch something after being set for a bit. Guess it's possible no work is available right now for the new setting to latch onto.

And about 90 minutes ago, you got some new v7 work. You should be good from here on out.

set milkyway@home to no new tasks then let the cache run down. MW tends to be a bit time greedy and its return time is so short that it can and does prevent other projects from receiving work
