I don't seem to have gotten any tasks from Seti@home in a long time. I'm running the 7.0.65 version and I've checked my preferences. They all seem correct. I'm also attached to Einstein@Home and that seems to get work and run just fine. I've run Seti for years and would like to keep running it. But my average work done is down to .07. Could that have anything to do with the current issue? I tell the app to look for work but I keep getting "Communication deferred".

Were you running optimized apps?

Have you selected v7 apps in your preferences?

Run only the selected applications

SETI@home Enhanced
SETI@home v7
AstroPulse v6

All 3 of these are checked in my Seti@Home preferences.

What happens when you temporarily suspend Einstein@home?

(I assume that you have intentionally restricted BOINC to only use one core.)

Message 1422183 - Posted: 30 Sep 2013, 0:08:33 UTC - in response to Message 1422104.

Checking your computer at Einstein, we can glean more from the contact log, where it says that your BOINC has an active_frac of 0.999101 but your computer only has an on_frac of 0.080999.

So your computer is only on 8% of the time, of which you allow BOINC to run 99% of that time. 8% of a day is 1 hour and 55 minutes. That's possibly not enough time to run work. Or at least, do not try to run Astropulse this way.

But on the other hand, have you ever changed your project preferences so that Seti v7 is allowed to be run? If your work preferences are only set for Seti Enhanded, then you'll never get work, as these tasks aren't handed out anymore.

1. Make sure that the Activity (menu) is set to run based on preferences and network is available.
Check that the project preferences are set to:

2. Accept work for the CPU: Use CPU is checked.
3. Run all of the select applications: Check in the least Seti v7.
4. Run alternatives: Check If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?

Save the changes to the web site with the Update preferences button at the bottom of the page. Next open BOINC Manager, select Seti@Home and Update it. That way BOINC knows what your preferences are.
