Hi, I would to know if it's possible to use BitMiner specific hardware for doing all the calculus for SETI@home, in the same way they use it for the Bitminer program. They claim that this especific harware is better than having four graphic cards with slys with all their GPUs working at the same time, and that comsumpt less power than a PC. Okay, not all the people are going to buy an especific hardware for these operations, but probably there would be people or teams that want to use it because is cheaper than graphic cards, with more GPUs and less power comsumption. What do you think? Ciao! |

No, BitMiner specific hardware is designed to do the operations needed for BitCoin mining. That's significantly different from what is needed for SETI@home crunching. OTOH, the same techniques applied to making that specific hardware *could* be applied to making SaH specific hardware. That would be a lot of work, and keeping it flexible enough to handle possible additional searches and/or changes needed for new data sources might be nearly impossible. Joe |
