Update
The Sheriff Department doesn't think I was part of the spree because no HAHA note was left.
There was some funny business with a neighbors car on the same night.
Maybe I should have bought a Lotto ticket or two. What are the odds, of mine being caused by a short?
Same neighborhood, same time frame.

On the plus side, the adjuster let us take a few things, since they were after Market stuff.

Wiggo, letting me change the title is working now.

I guess the cops haven't got a definite link so cant say there was one. It could have been just a random arson who knows. Doesn't negate the fact that you still lost a great rig :-(

+1

I hope it's arson, Uli.

If it's arson, the insurance company will go after the scumbags for the costs that they endured. If it is not, Uli's insurance rate will go up instead.

Of course, if it is arson, the insurance company gets second round after the police get through with them.

Police get first round for criminal charges, insurance company gets first round for civil charges and cost recovery. In my experience, most arsonists aren't worth pursuing for civil charges because they are generally nutters with no money.

However, having identified an arsonist makes it just about impossible for Uli's insurance company to apportion any blame to her, for cost recovery from Uli.

In Canada rate increases follow a claim, like a dog follows a bone, regardless of cause of the claim. Unless you buy an insurance policy with protection from this. Those come at a higher price, either way the insurance company wins.

I am with the "In Good hands People". I will let you know if they up the rates.
It has been written off as Arson. Finally got my pics uploaded to the PC, now I just need to transfer them.
Time is running out for me to find a replacement. Never have been in that situation before.

Thank you Wiggo. I just don't like to be under the gun. I don't mind riding a bike, but six miles to and fro is a bit far.

Chris I don't mind two miles on a bike. Pedal power that is. I also don't mind walking.

Glad that your insurance company wrote it off as the arson I am sure it was.

Hope you can find something you like soon to replace it.

Uli, I understand the pressure you feel. Went through the same thing a few years ago. My insurance company paid for a new car, but I had to buy within one week. A very short time for such a big decision.

Our Prius up and died suddenly a few weeks ago, right before a trip out of state. We rented a car to meet our immediate needs. Then we looked at our calendars and discovered we had exactly one free weekend to car shop. We ended up with a great little Prius replacement. I am sorry that you have to shop under pressure, but it can be done. The trick is finding a salesperson who is honest and helpful. We lucked out in that department. If you are planning to shop in the Walnut Creek area, let me know and I will get you the name of the excellent salesperson with whom we worked.

Thank you Angela. I am working with the same person, I bought the last one from. He found a nice one, but it has leather seats. Not a good choice in our climate and with Animals.
Ziggie's favorite sport was, waiting for me to get home, jump in and give it some kitty loving.
On the plus side, he is going to Auctions on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Don't pay attention to the dates. I bought it 10/21/2011 and it fried on 11/25/2013.

Sorry to hear about the Prius.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to choose the weekend. The other guys insurance company would only pay for a week of rental...

Uli the fire department must have got there super quick. Usally when a car catches fire its fully envolved when they do arrive on scene.
