If these WU gets validated, then my question is why we need a BETA for seti tasks for arm. Unless it's the Official Boinc client being tested there.

As usual because of damn copyleft laws ;)
Eric considered binary Mateusz released not legally clean enough for SETI servers distributions (it absolutely doesn't mean there are problems with Mateusz app, it just means it can't be distributed via Berkeley's servers). So, Eric built own app, that does include another FFT library (FFTW probably). Resulting app slower than originally supplied by Mateusz, and has troubles with some devices for now... but it "home built" and considered as appripriate for Berkeley's servers distribution.

In short, who wanna just crunch SETI on Android right now can use NativeBOINC + third party app.
But participation in SETI beta will allow stock Android app distribution in the future that would have much bigger impact on performance then anonymous platfor can ever have (peoples are lazy in general ;) .

Link to your host at Seti Beta please,

Attaching your host to the Main project will do no good, this project does not have Android Arm apps yet, that's why they are being Beta tested at Seti Beta.

I get it now. Well, thank you all for the answers. I guess I'll just split my phone CPU time between nativeboinc when on a good charger (2A), and the official BOINC + SetiBeta at night, because the official BOINC apps does have a battery level/cpu time control.

Putting devices on top of something metal like a computer case soaks the heat away fast,

Boinc on Android is configured to crunch only when connected to power, you can configure it to crunch on Batteries, and you can configure a minimum Battery % so you don't fully discharge the device,
If you're enabled compute on battery and set the % too low, then that is your decision,

Beware that if you plug the device into a computer, the USB socket will often not be able to supply enough power to keep it fully charged, in this case use your power adaptor instead.

Hi there,
I have boinc installed on a Samsung Galaxy mini GT-S5570 android ver 2.3.6
Gingerbread. After adding the Seti@home Beta project I cannot receive any tasks, I'm assuming the phone doesn't have enough cpu power ?

thanks

Paul

Try checking your disk usage configuration, since that phone only has 160mb available for the user.

The "Nothing To Do" and "Computing" message flash on and off, I cant see any tasks. I've just checked the task manager, it shows that Boinc is occupying 24.33MB of RAM and using 21.20% of CPU. Not sure why Boinc / Seti@home Beta not working.
Thanks

If I change the CPU limit value to under 50% the "computing" message appears for longer, but still no tasks visible?

I have similar device and was unable to get work via Berkeley's "official" BOINC client for Android.
Try to install NativeBOINC instead (and on SD card, not in internal memory). Yiu will be able to participate in SETI beta then and also to cruchs SETI main tasks with already released third party SETI v7 app.

Had same issue recently with Asus Transformer.
What helped: to chose older (4.x.x instead of 5.x.x) version of client. NativeBOINC offers such choice on install.

I have tried to join up for the Seti Android bta test but can't find the app anywhere on the Google Play store. Three Adndoid-ish items appear but appear more geared towards remote BOINC control of a PC, not on an Android. I was considering to install the basic BOINC client thru a browser session, but I don't know if the program can be limited to run only when powered by external means.
I feel foolish for asking such a basic question, but I've searched for anything related to SETI and BOINC and find nothing that is whet I'm looking for. What am I missing? Thanks for any and all help...even if to rub my nose in it, so to speak! :)

It probably means that the BOINC team has decided your device isn't fully compatible with BOINC. What kind of device (model) is it?
