Has anyone noticed the Crickets lately? I've been getting this for the last 2 days, or have they moved?.

Could be because you're using the wrong cricket. After the move to the colo, which was many many moons ago, this is the new cricket URL:

Thanks Sten-Arne, the link was wrong in my favorites but has been corrected. Don't normally use this machine for general internet work, but with the primary machine down, it never occurred to me that the link was old. Good thing I asked.

I'm new here and curious; to what does this interface belong?

It's part of the university's network. It shows the traffic levels on a segment of the network, in this case the one Seti@home's servers are on. Most of the traffic you see is S@H, but we believe there is a little traffic from other users/sources.

The green field is traffic going out from the servers to the internet; the blue line is coming in from the 'net. (Yes, it's labeled the other way around, but that's a matter of perspective.)

Not as useful as it was with permanently saturated bandwidth, but just in case you want to see packets and not bits:

By the way, how do you protect a network itself?

I would say the best way for you to protect your network would be to unplug it.
