...but given what Fred has entrusted me with, and I don't want to let him down,...

Fred seems to have read the "Art of War" and believes in the maxim " Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. ".
Guy you've been had.
To what extent will you compromise for just a little more power?

One interesting thing about Grant Wood -- there is a fair amount of chatter regarding him being gay. To think this iconic image was created by him....

Be afraid, very afraid

"The military coup... was carried out under CIA direction as an act of US foreign policy," says one excerpt".

Where in the Constitution does it say that the US can dictate to the rest of the world?

Guy is limited on what he could respond to that and you knew it when you posted it. That is scurrilous and unfair. Fred is doing a good job as well, and he/she has my support. If you don't like the status quo, then go play somewhere else. You have always been seen as a loose cannon around here.

Chris you're hilarious.
Guy has a Constitutional Right to Free Speech.
The fact that he chooses to give up some of this Freedom for the privileges of a censor is an example of how power corrupts.
Where do you get off telling B.E.N. that he's posting too much, or ES99 that she's not deserving of her own thread, or that I should get lost?
Who do you think you are?

I'm supposed to be going out to a meeting shortly ....

Chris you're hilarious.

Thankyou, I aim to please.

Guy has a Constitutional Right to Free Speech.

Yes he has.

The fact that he chooses to give up some of this Freedom for the privileges of a censor is an example of how power corrupts.

Garbage.

Where do you get off telling B.E.N. that he's posting too much, or ES99 that she's not deserving of her own thread, or that I should get lost?

Simple observations. Don't agree with your ES99 comment though.

Who do you think you are?

Someone who has their feet on the ground rather more than the activists, radicals, and extreme left and right wingers, that we tend to get around here. Oh, and a lot more grown up as well.

I've got more credit than you have

Nahnah, nah, nahnah. A bit childish isn't it?

Now now GF, you must not upset Seti's "unofficial Ombudsman". Posts must meet his criteria or else.....

The Declaration was bold
And the Constitution remains gold.
Human nature is unchanging
and times may be changing,
but it's exactly the way the founders foretold!

Ah, an excellent use of the State Police Power ...

Mississippi Police Want to Arrest the Satanists Who Turn Dead People Gay

Yes, you read it correctly. Apparently in Mississippi it is a crime to make a dead person gay.

I wonder is this is modeled on the Mormons who Baptize the Dead? Can California make that a three strike crime?

A good example of why the Articles of Confederation were replaced. The idiot silliness that is the state politics level is clearly on display. I can't imagine how other countries would view the USA is this were made the norm by getting rid of the Federal system, because of the commerce clause, that is in place today.

Oh, the story is about a group from New York that went to Mississippi to stage a political protest, First Amendment right, at the grave of a Westborro Baptist Church leader's relative. I can think of no better irony for a group that stages protests at the funerals of dead US Service men.

And the original intent of the commerce clause was to regulate between STATES, not INDIVIDUALS, as we have progressed to define it today.

States never had commerce between them. Individuals in one state had commerce between individuals in another state. At least I never heard the Great State of Georgia running a cotton plantation and selling cotton to Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. Heck, didn't even have a US Greenback then! Was that a pop a heard, like a bubble bursting?

Commerce CROSSING state lines... jeez...

So one once in Georgia should not equal one ounce in New York, unless it is going to cross state lines. Just love that kind of thinking ...
