Mornin', Doc.

Looks like once again I'm going to waste the nicest day in the next week napping in my recliner instead of out doing something useful and/or fun.

Damn the weather, though, I'm going out to Illinois Railway Museum next Saturday. It's their 60th anniversary Railroad Extravaganza weekend, with at least two operating steam engines (maybe three, if they can get 1630's formal hydrostatic boiler test done tomorrow), an operating Centennial, a lot of stuff that's usually in the barn brought out into the light, and a night photo session.

Actually, September is going to be a busy month for train watching.

Have fun with the trains! :-) My thing is WWII planes; my favorite is the F4U-1A Corsair.

I'm way to the south, though I could swear there was some smoke down here today, there's one in Riverside county on the other side of the San Gabriel/San Bernardino Mountain ranges, it's 90% contained, that one near Yosemite is threatening Hetch Hetchy according to the news, that's the San Francisco water supply.

I think I may be closest to the Yosemite fire, living just south of Fresno, but I'm on the road right now. Winning from a hotel just east of Sacramento. Winding down the annual FRA West Coast Region convention. Dog tired, but looking forward to sleeping in my own bed Sunday night.

I'm closest to the Gobblers Fire in the San Bernardino National Forest, the smoke I'm getting could be from there, this fire is 65% contained.

Then there is this link: Southern Marin Fire Crews Join the Fight Against 100K Burning CA Acres, it shows a dozen fires in CA right now.

Yeah, you probably are closer. Smelled the smoke and saw the "SR-120 is closed" signs from north of Merced to Modesto. Not fun up there.

It was a long day. I had a funeral Thursday morning, got out of Visalia late, and passed through Stockton at 10:00 pm at night. But I DID think of you.....
Probably pass through on southbound SR-99 around 09:00 am Sunday .
