Message 1412813 - Posted: 8 Sep 2013, 6:58:12 UTC - in response to Message 1412794.

I'm sorry to interrupt this raccoon channel, but in 3 more weeks(October 1st) I've got 2 more corners to seal up with GE Silicon Caulk, as the 2 remaining corners are allowing the moths to enter into the mobile home, the outside panels are loose, to fix those panels, I'd need a 3/8" cordless drill & charger, 2" #8 flathead phillips wood screws, a 7/64"x2" drill bit and a #8 countersink bit, as the nails Fleetwood Enterprises installed the panels with have allowed the panels to come loose at the halfway point by about 1/16", lower down the panels must be looser than 1/16", the park wouldn't do the repairs at one time, I'll have to talk to them Monday while I wait for UPS, and I can only do this on concrete where I can use the step ladder at, anywhere else and the ladder sinks into the ground when I'm on it. I'd do the work now, but I just can't right now, even though I wish I could, as I'm getting 1 moth a day in here, I just killed one today, not like I want to kill anything, but these moths are too small to catch alive, the moth came out of the closet and the moths were coming out of there even with no clothes or other cloth fabrics in there and except for the 2 corners I've sealed up everywhere else, this 26yr old mobile home is not sealed very well anymore, though I have fixed some of that already. Fleetwood Enterprises went bankrupt in 2009.

I now return y'all to your normal raccoon activities.

I found the drill, screws, drill bit and counter sink with shipping and some sales tax from Amazon would cost Me $168.79 total, so far caulk has cost $26.96 in 4 tubes, I may need 2 more tubes and so there goes another $13.48, the bathroom closet needs some caulk, lots of gaps here & there, as Grace found a moth that had just emerged from there tonight(the door to the bathroom is in front of the door to that small sized master bathroom closet), they are really trying to get in, the bathroom closet just has a water softener and some nearly empty shelves, but no cloth of any sort, not even towels. Can you say siege?

Vic start a Journal. So what if you have a moth or two in your house. Not a big deal.
I have plenty of open spaces and yes a few flies, moth and spiders. I don't bug them and they don't but me.

Nothing is off topic in the Critter Cafe. I have no wish to control the content of this thread. This is simply a place where Critter People gather to talk about whatever they wish. (Readers who are bit squeamish about critters from Class Insecta may wish to use the "Ignore" button.)

Luna Moth

Cecropia Moth

Sphinx Moth

Charles Darwin predicted the existence of this pollinator, based on the shape of the orchid he was studying. This moth species was discovered well after Darwin's death.

Has anyone seen the latest U-verse Internet commercial with the two girls talking about counting sheep?

"Too much?"
"A little."

More like a lot.

One of my colleagues has had these "little" critters banging into his windows for the past few nights

370 Hornet Clearwing Moth Sesia apiformis (Clerck, 1759)
Wingspan 33-48 mm.

Rather similar to the Lunar Hornet Moth, this species can easily be distinguished by the yellow head and tegulae.

It has a more southerly distribution than that species, rarely being encountered north of the Midlands.

The larvae burrow into the wood of black poplar (Populus nigra), and other species of poplar.

The moths emerge in June and July, and can be found low down on the trunks in early to mid morning.

After getting back in my car at a gas station last night, I discovered a junebug on my shirt and about freaked out. At least I hope it was a junebug. Big ugly thing.

Ah, Chris - Have you ever seen a wasp the best part of two inches long!

I think I'd be running for cover if these were coming at me and I didn't have a sheet of glass between them and me

The Junebugs down here (in central Texas) are about 1/2"-3/4" inch long and brown. They're quite stupid.

I like bugs. I think I probably would have enjoyed being an entomologist.

When I was young I had a dream that I was sitting in the kitchen. The kitchen was completely bare, except for the dinner table and the one chair I was sitting in. The entire kitchen - walls, ceiling, table, floor, counters, and I - was covered in bugs. Lots and lots of bugs. All kinds of bugs.

I'm going to have to start posting my bug pix. I have a lot of them.

I just closed my eyes when "Crystal Skull" got to the scene with the giant ants. After the junebug last night, I couldn't watch it. (It's pretty gross anyway.)
