That's one of the reasons why the world's in a damned mess! 2 wrongs do not make a right. For one who always states that diplomacy is best whenever I post remarks like that, it makes me wonder about your mindset! |

Diplomacy is always the best way forward to resolve any dispute, this has always been the UK's position. It has been tried with Spain in the past and again most recently, but they have refused to sit down and negotiate sensibly. Sensibly being to accept UK's world view as being correct and all others as being flawed. Chris they accuse the USA of hegemony ... |

I think a replay of the Spanish Armada might be in order. Looking at the state of the Spanish navy, And that the UK is minus a carrier. Its rowboats with cannon as ships of the line. But only to be manned by the muppets from both countrys. [/quote] Old James |

I think a replay of the Spanish Armada might be in order. Looking at the state of the Spanish navy, And that the UK is minus a carrier. Its rowboats with cannon as ships of the line. But only to be manned by the muppets from both countrys. But the UK are not the muppets in this instance, that label falls fairly and squarely upon the Spanish here. A treaty is a treaty, a contract and Spain was happy to sign Gibraltar over to us for keeps 300 years ago. Brussels (EU) has to support our claim on Gibraltar and the validity of the treaty we and Spain signed. If Brussels does not then the consequence of their action would be that no treaty signed within Europe is binding. Hence the UK could decide that since it's not too impressed by the EU at the moment we can simply ignore any party agreements we have with the EU so can simply walk out. This action could set a presidents through out the world and that no treaty between any nation and another is ever binding. I wonder what the ramifications would be for many countries and states including the USA. To this end, we might have to start thinking about redrawing the map of the world for there could be a lot of changes afoot, in time, if treaties and/or agreements are just ripped up because one party decides to have a change of heart. It would be educational to a lot of people if they investigated the actions of the Spanish fishing fleet. Probably the closest incident to people who visit here would be cod fishing on the Grand Banks. But there are complaints against them almost world wide, such as Africa, New Zealand and South America. Also look at how much it gets in subsidies from the EU. |

What is it with fishermen? Why can't they find a proper job, and stop harassing the rest of the world? You ever eaten fish? Yes? How did it get on your plate? Did you spear it yourself? |

What is it with fishermen? Why can't they find a proper job, You are complaining because they are capitalists. Just like lumber companies. Just line diamond mines. Just like oil companies. Just like bankers. Just like lawyers. |

I wouldn't disparage the inhabitants like that, after all they are part of the UK. |
