I thought 200 was the limit? It's been a few days since any APs were assigned in mass, so, he must have had around 500 back then. I'd really like to know, cause I'm about out of my 200... I think there is something else going on. When I try to have the server transfer tasks to the GPUs, if I have 100 GPU tasks, it refuses to send more until it drops below 100. Same thing with the CPU tasks. Something going on... |

Same thing with the CPU tasks. Something going on... So, the program keeping track of, and reporting 371 tasks, doesn't have any interaction with the server? It would seem if the program keeping track of the number of tasks reported 371, alarm bells would ring. Scratches head... |

Well, he is trying to cheat, but is turning in fair proportion of errors and invalids.... Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

We should send a posse after him to rip Freds Rescheduling program from his possession and take away his crunching privileges for 10yrs (maybe even a public flogging just to keep the crowd happy). :-D Cheers. |

So THAT is how one gets to #5 and #6 in the system rankings. Dayum, I thought I was doing it right, but guess I must be doing it un-right |

Hmm, i would consider this behavior as... - ...yes: cheating! No...it's not cheating, they are gaming the system to try and take advantage. The error rate may be higher than would otherwise be the case but this will be traded traded off against an increase in daily credit. So long as the methodology yields a positive return (higher daily credit), behaviour is reinforced. There are two prime factors leading to this: 1) the limits of 100 work units per CPU or GPU; 2) the low credits associated with v7 work units compared to AP or enhanced wus. |

Same thing with the CPU tasks. Something going on... The way I understand it is that the BOINC servers send the AP tasks to the guys CPU. He then Reschedules those tasks to his GPU. The GPU does its thing and BOINC Manager reports back the finished AP tasks. The BOINC servers see those tasks come back, IIRC, still marked as if they were issued to the CPU. The server sends more... Rinse - Repeat All that Freds Rescheduling program does is let YOU choose whether your tasks are crunched on the CPU or GPU. But, as others have said, it does tend to gum up the works. </Tazz> |

Well, I guess that's about it for my Macs' run up the list. I'm out of fuel, it will now coast until more APs are split. Not bad though, it went from a RAC of near Zero to inside the Top 150. When was the last time a Mac was in the Top 150? Average credit: 28,131.45 I'll be back... |

All that Freds Rescheduling program does is let YOU choose whether your tasks are crunched on the CPU or GPU. But, as others have said, it does tend to gum up the works. The problem with Fred's Rescheduler is that the SETI servers don't realise that the workunit which was meant for a CPU is being run on a GPU which can cause some dramatic falls in the credit being awarded to the wing people involved, but ATM under the circumstances this idiot is actually helping bring parity back between MB and AP work as he will be de-valuating AP work which helps increase MB value, all the same it should not be done at all by anyone in these CreditNew days. Cheers. |

Wasnt Freds rescheduling program made to transfer VLAR's from the GPU back to the CPU? I must say that is a different way to use it. [/quote] Old James |

Wasnt Freds rescheduling program made to transfer VLAR's from the GPU back to the CPU? It was, years ago, but even Fred doesn't support that program any more as CreditNew made this program a total minefield. Cheers. |
