I hear you, not like I see any real scifi anymore of course, I don't get the scifi channel on the uhf satellite translator.

IMHO, you're not missing anything on Syfy. Two Saturdays ago, late at night, they ran a single episode of Stargate: Atlantis. I glommed my DVR onto it to set a recording of any episode, any day, any time. Didn't get another one this week.

If you get BBC America, they have three episodes of ST:TNG every morning. Currently in season 7, so it will start over soon. They also have Dr. Who, of course.

No BBC either.

KCBS(out of Los Angeles CA)18-1
KNBC(out of Los Angeles CA)18-2
KTLA(out of Los Angeles CA)18-3
KOCE(out of Orange County CA)18-4
KCAL(out of Los Angeles CA)21-1
KABC(out of Los Angeles CA)21-2
KTTV(out of Los Angeles CA)21-3
KCOP(out of Los Angeles CA)21-4
WGN(out of Chicago IL)23-1
MeTV(out of Bishop CA)23-2
23-3(empty)
23-4(empty)

Those are all the stations that I get and translators in this state only go to 10 stations, by CA sate law, even though being a digital setup there is room for 2 more stations on the digital side of the translator, the analog side will eventually be shut down.

Well that's a stupid law. Why is a state regulating broadcasting anyway? That's a federal function.

Only on Satellite TV Translators within CA I think as that's what it pertains to, I think at one time cable companies complained and since there was no Federal Law on this, the state either passed a law or put one on the ballot for the voters to decide, before My knowledge of this really. But yeah it's stupid, when it was enacted TV wasn't digital, so it's been there on the books for a few years.

Is anyone watching The Newsroom? I just stumbled onto this recently and I'm still catching up on back episodes, but dang it - now I'm addicted! It is largely a soap opera with political overtones, but I'm hooked and I want more, more, more!!!

She is a beautiful woman. Personally, I think the actor who plays Don is really quite talented. The writers have given him a role in which he is the bad guy, then the good guy, then the bad guy, then the good guy again, and I buy it every time. Way to make a statement about the human condition!!! I really don't think most actors could pull that switch off so well.

After some of the offerings of recent times I wondered low low television programming could go. But now I think the answer has arrived. Honey Boo Boo with a scratch and sniff stink card is premiering soon in the USA

Don't have cable, so it not a problem here.

No, but it's in my queue.

The BBC only makes 200m a year, it can't afford to take any risky ventures.

I turned off Comcast, and I threw away the dish advertisements.
All I get now is what comes through hulu (at least I can pick what garbage to watch, and NO INFOMERCIALS!) and what I get over my digital rabbit ears.

There was once a song.. "57 channels and nothing on". Now we have a lot more channels and still nothing on.

"Do you know the greatest thing about television? If something important happens at any time, ANYWHERE in the world....
.... you can always change the channel."(Rev. Jim/TAXI)

It was really bad.

There's been some good television too. Among it, believe it or not, is Star Trek. High among the ranks of people who worked (and still do, remastering the older shows for Blu-ray) on are Michael and Denise Okuda. On their Facebook page yesterday, they posted the link to this article by Harold White, NASA scientist who is working to develop warp drive.

Perhaps this should be in Science (non SETI). Maybe it's there already, I don't know. But I thought the people who are here and not there should know.

There's a nice kids show on TV these days, it's called Galaxy park. My oldest really loves it.
