One a lack of ancestral fossils and the other a perplexing engineering challenge. Two hours long.

Analysis of the Discovery Institute's Bibliography

A report from National Center for Science Education (NCSE)

As it was originally furnished to the Board, the Bibliography was prefaced with the following explanation:

The publications represent dissenting viewpoints that challenge one or another aspect of neo-Darwinism (the prevailing theory of evolution taught in biology textbooks), discuss problems that evolutionary theory faces, or suggest important new lines of evidence that biology must consider when explaining origins.

Because the representatives of the Discovery Institute who appeared at the March 11 meeting — Jonathan Wells and Stephen C. Meyer — were widely touted as promoters of "intelligent design," it would have been reasonable for the Board to assume that among the "dissenting viewpoints" included in the Bibliography was "intelligent design." But it isn't.

NCSE sent a questionnaire to the authors of every publication listed in the Bibliography, asking them whether they considered their work to provide scientific evidence for "intelligent design."[5] None of the 26 respondents (representing 34 of the 44 publications in the Bibliography) did; many were indignant at the suggestion.

I therefore submit that every entry promoting the pseudo-science of the Discovery institute be removed from this Science board.

We probably should allow crackpot theories and then point out where they are dead wrong using logic and scientific results.

Dull, I believe in Evolutionary hypothesis. I just reject the chance part. And I do so for good reason---engineering. A single cell cannot be called a simple cell.

Bound For IT--hell you are. ;-)

No mystery that I can see. Take a back garden (not an American lot, or a yard, a proper garden) and leave it a bit. Soon the weeds will start to grow. Leave it long enough and the weeds will flourish like triffids. That is what all species will do, breed in favourable conditions.

There was never any divine design by a single entity. Now if you are talking intelligent intervention at some point, that might be slightly different .....

please explain the evidence of an initial intervention and those so-called subsequent interventions. What physical evidence are you using to derive your hypothesis

“What do you think science is? There's nothing magical about science. It is simply a systematic way for carefully and thoroughly observing nature and using consistent logic to evaluate results. Which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?”

Steven Novella-

AKA crackpot.

Novella is a medical advisor to Quackwatch,[3] an associate editor of the Scientific Review of Alternative Medicine,[4] and the executive editor of the blog Science-Based Medicine.[5] Among other topics, Novella has published on homeopathy[6][7] and AIDS denialism.[8] In 2009, he was the board chairman when the Institute for Science in Medicine was founded.[9] He has also taught a course for The Teaching Company titled "Medical Myths, Lies, and Half-Truths: What We Think We Know May Be Hurting Us."

He's the guy you don't make eye contact with as you walk past his kiosk at the mall.
