Sorry to hear your rant about 'take out boxen' from out far.
Here in Wisconsin, as you must know, such things are a given.
The boyz get a big steak, and gobble it up.
The gurlz, not so.
Lori always makes two meals out of one.
So, when the waitress comes about and asks 'are you done with that?' it is not really offensive.

I must add that your tails of your travels are most enjoyable.

Thank you for sharing.

Actually, skunks are quite solitary animals. Most everyone in our area has a skunk living under his or her deck, whether that person knows the skunk is there or not. Eric and I just have good "skunk awareness".

So, Ol' Pookers and I are back in Wisconsin now. Eric spent yesterday fishing with his dad. I hung out with my mother-in-law, which was nice. We went swimming in Lake Superior and, feeling somewhat abandoned by our spouses, we consoled ourselves by opening a bottle of wine and sipping until we were both a little tipsy. Whee!!!! Today Eric is already long up and out of the house on a fishing expedition with his best friend. If he is not home by dinner time, my mother-in-law and I are planning to take photographs of ourselves wearing lampshades while doing the can-can. Then we will send said photo directly to Eric's phone!

Don't we already have enough Wisconsin drunkenness in this forum?

Waiters and waitresses all need to be trained to never utter the words "Are you still working on that?" I do not "work on" my food!!! I enjoy food. I savor food. I do not "work on" food!!! A simple "May I take your plate" would more than suffice!!

Was this in New Yak City? (get a rope) Unfortunately, Miss Manners is not required reading material there.

Even in the worst flop house diner in California I think I only heard something like that once, and it had a Brooklyn accent saying it.

Of course strangely of late even here in Hollyweird I've started to notice far fewer actor and actresses types serving food and far more professional food service staff.

As to you fishing husband, perhaps he will have luck and come back with a creel full that will have to be cleaned and cooked for dinner before they loose their just fresh caught flavor.

At least they had the courtesy to "ask" if you were done. Could have been Mayor (Nanny) Bloomberg types who said "you've had enough" and took your plate away before you were done.

Having lived in the far north suburbs of Chicago all my life, all I've ever heard was "Are you still working on that?" or "Are you finished with that?" so I assumed this was normal etiquette. Man I need to get out more!

LOL...
Yup, pretty soon they'll be telling the restaurants they can't serve more than a 6 ounce prime rib.

LOL!!! Actually Eric got off the lake at a decent hour that night, so there is no silly picture to post. We returned home from all our travels this evening. Eric has come down with a nasty cough and cold. I am hoping he will have the good sense not to go into work tomorrow.

Skinny dipping, Angela style. And I think I'd cast Kittieman as the farmer.

Angela, great to see you've returned safely

I'm not so sure about Eric though, it would appear he needs a holiday to get over the vacation...

Let us hope he is sensible (or you tie him to the arm chair) and he has the day off to get better quickly.

LOL...I resemble that remark.

Hope Eric recovers from his walkabout quickly. I have had vacations like that myself.

I hope he has a speedy recovery. I've been dealing with some nasty Bronchitis for over a month now that I can't seem to get rid of. It's already cost me 6 days of work, and there's likely to be more as I go back in to see if they can help me get rid of this. Even had a fun trip to the ER about a week and a half ago because I couldn't get any air into my lungs. Starting to get that way again...
