I don't understand why I now only receive 2 tasks at a time! WTF happened to having a variety of tasks, instead of just the crappy small numbered ones?

I don't have to run my computer 24/7 for FREE if this is how it's going to be!

10, and yet, I still receive only 2! When I go to the BONIC directory, it only has 2 slots listed as being available. I wonder what the change was, and how to correct it. Those files are found under Program Data/BONIC/Slots/. On previous versions, I use to have 10.

Is that 10 + 0 or 0 + 10?

[Edit] In case my question isn't clear, there are two cache settings and I'm wondering what both are.

It is my understanding that a larger first number can be a detriment to your total cache (unless things have changed).

What happens if you lower the first cache to something like 2 or 3?

On Boinc 7 it changed.

I`d try 3 + 0.5 IIRC.

Files found under Program Data/BOINC/Slots/ are not received WU's.
They can be found under Program Data/BOINC/projects/setathome.berkeley.edu.

"slot" is just the active file directory for current work being processed. If the computer stops processing a WU if the WU is not complete BOINC will create a slot3 and will continue creating slots if it doesn't finish the work. I've seen dozens of slots on one of my machines

Check resource share setting in S@H preferences (website). A zero Resource Share setting can cause this type of behavior, regadless of cache setting. Also, are you crunching other BOINC projects and do you have too much work from them?

Looking at his account, it doesn't appear that he is attached to any other projects.

Is that on the Web Computing Preferences? or in the Local Preferences in Boinc Manager?

Beware, Local Preferences over-ride the Web Preferences, you may need to 'Clear' them.

Correct... No other accts, and no other ideas...

The reason why I bought up about the slots, because before the upgrade, there used to be ten, now there is only two, and I thought that was the reason why the change.

yes, and the update is running.... looking at my results, I don't even receive the AstroPulse tasks anymore... all of them are just the v7's.

Update done, and nothing changed.

According to the server status page, there are no AstroPulse tasks to send out.

Can you post some lines from your BOINC event log? Maybe that will give a clue as to whether BOINC is even asking for work or not.

Because the cache settings are global, local preferences will override web settings. IOW, if you want to use web preferences, make sure local preferences are cleared.

Could he perhaps have <fetch_minimal_work> set in cc_config? It kind of looks like he's just getting one job at a time per device.
