Major fail....I have not read of any casualties on the ground. Launch rocket and 3 satellites aboard blows up shortly after lift off. Video of the failure... "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster

Certainly looked as if one engine failed quite early on - if you watch the very first few seconds one of the engines may not have properly started, or suffered a surge, right at the moment of launch. The rest, as they say, is history, with the inevitable instability and finally someone hitting the payload self destruct button and the collapse of the remaining engines and fuel systems. "Soyuz" refers to the complete vehicle, launcher and capsule. It is a completely different rocket (designed by the same people and built in the same factory) so there is nothing to worry about.....
