I would like to see some separate settings for when the pc is idle vs. in use. In general the preferences aren't very clear so there may be a way to do this but I haven't been able to make it work like I would like it to. I have 2 badass ASUS G75VW laptops that need to run autocad during the work day and are idle the rest of the time. Even when running Acad they have plenty of resources left over for crunching. I currently change the cpu settings on both machines twice a day so they can run all out when idle and slow the crunching down enought that acad doesn't lag when I am working during the day. exclusive apps is all or nothing, so is setting day/time override. any suggestions would be appreciated |

Only GPU apps cause a lag So instead of <exclusive_app>filename.exe</exclusive_app> use: <exclusive_gpu_app>important.exe</exclusive_gpu_app> http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Client_configuration#Options  - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :)  |

if that is true then shouldn't un-ticking the "use gpu while computer is in use" accomplish the same thing? ACAD still lags with that box un-checked. thanks for your input |

Are you sure that the GPU app really exits? (the GPU app process will vanish in Windows Task Manager, also GPU load will drop near 0%) There is a bug in BOINC API (in BOINC Manager task shown as 'Suspended' but the GPU app still do not stop and continues computing on GPU): http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=71581&postid=1377402#1377402 Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |
